Pole Size???

it's personal preference really, go to a shop pick up a pair, you like them? buy them. you don't like them, too long? try another shorter pair.
but you'd do fine with something around 100cm give or take....

For a regular size you want a 46" (115cm) pole. If you're looking in a shop the way to size it is to turn the pole over and hold it below the basket. If it's the correct height your fore arm should be straight and level, or perpendicular to your body, how ever you want to say it.
For a shorter pole for park or just to push u along. I see most people with them tend to have them up to their waist, usually a little below.

Best idea is to go to a shop and try them out for size, i highly recommend it. My poles i bought online from Scott ended up being too long and now i want shorter ones.

hack saw? pipe cutter?
to be fair you've brought up a good point, to OP if you're unsure on size buy them long as you can always cut them down. it's very easy to do. there's a tutorial on 4frnt tech talk.

As said above, get poles that actually fit you right (to get perfect size pow/all mountain poles place your palms on the very top of the grip and your arm should be at 90 degrees that's how i do it) and from there on you can just take off the grip and cut it down untill your find your proper length. Just put the grip in hot water and pull it off the bam, you have the perfect size.

dont use poles.

honestly, this is my 3rd season without poles, and poles are about the worst idea ever.

theyre seriously sooo overrated, if you drop the poles you drop the crutch. imo learn to ski without them, when you dont miss them youll never need them.

word. I dont want to cut them cuz they're so nice. Im going to get some rental poles and customize them myself, those will be shorter.

I do a fair amount of all mountain because my main mountain's park sucks so I'll still be using the poles i already have.

scott s4s? i didn't enjoy taking a saw to mine, i've even kept the cut off bits, how pathetic is that!

i just took a measuring tape and held it like a pole would be held at the height i thought was comfortable and measured. then, i ordered offline. best way to do it

when i made my homemade jib set up, i measured from the ground to my balls to get the height of my rail so i don't get a nutshot. very useful method. comes in handy for a lot of shit

I bought a pair of retro Scott poles at a thrift store, and cut em down an painted em purple. I could not be happier. But mine are a little below my waist, and I ski mostly park.

scott team issues are sick..thats wat i have..go 46'' and if you have to you can easily cut them down

try flipping the poles upside down and gripping it right below the baskets. the guideline is that a good fit for a pole would be 90 degrees (the angle your arms make from your body while holding it like this)
