Pole planting on butters????

I can't even explain how much it annoys me when kids use their poles when they butter. I don't know why it annoys me so much. But they plant them in the ground to help them balance and help them get pressure onto their skis. It;s like a really ugly form of cheating. It looks stupid, your poles get in the way and it's cheating.

Stop doing it

sorry for the little rant about something so insignificant but it really annoys me

damn you're right

and kinda a douche I guess

If you really like using your poles when you butter go ahead, but ya

and that wasn't sarcastic

Personally, I have to use my poles sometimes, especially when i'm trying to get into a wheelie. I weigh NOTHING.. super flyweight, so even on my thrusters (which actually have an annoyingly stiff tail) I have a bitch of a time buttering back, or ollying.

I really should pick up some invaders, i'd probably slay on them because of my lack of weight and the softness of those skis.

i pole plant some nose butters after i just push off from the lift, but i like doing them w/out planting better.

This is true, it does look unbelievably gay. Just like that one video of that old-school ass guy doing like ski acrobatics or some shit I saw a while ago on NS.

butters using your poles is basically a tip roll, which as some said, is a common trick in accro skiing.

I find myself throwing in a pole plant when I'm sliding really slow and buttering. Anything with moderate speed though and I don't have to. *shrug*

Stop blowing it out of proportion. It seems like no one can criticize skiing anymore without some bro saying "ski how you want". or "skiing's not a fashion show" or something else that's been said over and over.

It's fucking ugly, he has a point.

like ced said (ahaha) it's just not a butter, it's called a tip roll. and i dunno why a tip roll would make you upset, but they're fun. nose butters are more fun though.

Why do i pole plant on butters?

because im just starting to learn them

its really just a beginner thing, i dont claim to be able to butter, but im trying to learn with pole plants to help me learn

I hate it when people don't use poles

I hate it when peole use their poles

I hate it when people can't get laid so they start a thread hating on everything

I don't know how you could butter with your poles stuck in the ground. I ahve kind of a funny story about this though. Once this kid I know at the skill hill aksed me if I would like to see who can butter longer. I was like, "ok", so the guy does a tip stand with his poles in the ground in front of him. I was like " I hate to break it to you, but........"

true. everybody does it differently. different doesn't mean wrong. in this case it may mean uglier, but who cares.

i think that they can be hillarious in the right situation. very much similar to polish bagels, tip drag 180s, and handstand frontflips.

Pole plants are awesome. Boosting out of a pipe, spinning onto a rail, doing butters...they all are made more sweet by pole plants.

what about when standing in the lift line and doing it cause your bored?

you dont really have room to go leaning way back then throwing forward to get off the ground.

i too agree that most of the time it is ugly, but whenever i ski without poles i find myself doing pretty much the same thing like a nose 180 to pushupish thing to whatever spin out.
