Pole planting off jumps?

i dont know if this is new or old. but its 2am and im not in the least bit tired.

i sort of just noticed some people pole plant off jumps. in the park and elsewhere. it seems like they can spin/go cork easier cause i guess it sets the axis with your arm. i thought it was cool but ive never done it.

I used to hate when Candide did that shit.... Then I think I saw Clarke do it in a cork 9 blunt reverse blunt or something, and it was the epitome of steeze.

I dont know how people fuckin do it. I could see doin it off a cliff, for billy goat purposes. but when candide does it over like a 100 foot table and does a cork 9, that shit is crazy. I don't plant my poles jumping ever, just didn't learn that way I guess.

candide is not the pole plant originator, everyone learned to jump that way (if ur actually old enough to remember when freestyle started). He just never stopped, and others did,

what? haha thats now how freestyle started. nobody ever taught me to plant my poles off a jump dude, your full of shit. maybe on the east coast they did or somethin. but I've never seen people teach that way, any freestyle instructor or coach for that matter. maybe they did in europe, but i don know bout them.

nobody in their right mind could possibly think that candide's steeze can be called into question just because of a fuckin pole plant.

also, see pete o's misty 5 trucks, i believe theres a pole plant in there, and thats one of the steeziest tricks thrown today...

it comes from racing...almost all racers do it and some newschoolers do it too because they got a background racin

it can look good or bad, just like everything else in skiing. when candide does it, it looks awesome in my opinion.

Go see a little flick called License to Thrill and you'll understand where the pole plant came from. It looks fucking boss when Kevin Andrews or Schmidt does it off a cornice. Gotta bring it back.

i think it looks fuckin retarded honestly. this year i think i am skiing mainly no poles so i am not very concerned. candide has been doing it for as long as i can remember.

wait, so let me get this straight. you think a simple pole plant on the lip of the jump looks stupid, but you are going to be without poles this season?

you must be joking.

for those who think pole planting looks gay:

go watch sean decker or mike clarke, realize you ll never be as good at skiing as they are, and then shut up.

Decker kills it, shit didnt "come from racing" you don't even plant when you race so why would that make sense? Bumpers do it allot If it looks good its so fresh

dumbass.

back when moguls and aerials were the shit, pole plantingf was the accepted way to properly "boost".

yur ignorant.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I think it just makes you look like a snolerblader/2-year-old/gaper, but that's just my 2 cents.

Pole planting is from the old school. Just a different way to set a spin. I personally prefer not pole planting and setting my spin with my upper body and where I look. Just a preference...

agreed. Thats how I learned to spin. Its a really cool feel when your carving in and pole plant. I don't always do it but it feels really controlled when you do it. I always though Candide made it look really dope so I wanted to try it that way.

you do it during slalom...and pole planting doesn't come from racing. it started with just regular all mountain skiing.
