pole length

K, here's an abnormal question,

how do u know what size poles u need? I was told that it should be long enough that yer elbow is at 90 degrees when u hold it beside u, upside down, gripping it under the basket. I did this and it feels like I should be doing cross-country with them. I am thinkin about getting the pipe cutter out and shaving about 2' off the buggers.

Advice anyone?

I think it depends on the kind of stuff you're skiing...shorter poles for steeper slopes/lots of moguls, something like that... also usually once you get your boots and skis on it makes you a tad taller...

and there is also a certain amount of personal preference, I prefer skiing with 49'' poles (even though I'm only 5'8'') for a little extra push but not too much length, if I'm skiing and not going to have to do much pushing/skating, I'll drop to 48'' or 46'' poles, so basically, you are checking your pole height correctly, but you might prefer a longer pole.

usally you are supposed to flip the pole over and put your hand under the baxket and your arm s supposed to be parrell to the ground

put your boots on and go with whatever feels good to you, i use 53's

PJ Cliche: Total skate influence. Even doh dis is on concrete, an you are face sideways, an it has sweet fuck all to do with ski, skate 'as play a huge role wit my steeze.

super short for me....people make fun of me or whatever...when their little brother poles are longer...but they're good for me, get in the way less.

they're still usable for pole planting and the like, just not quite as welll.

Yea, I use 125cm in decent snow, but i need a pair of 115s for normal skiing. I'm 6ft.

my poles are so short that when i try to plant them they totally miss the snow, so they just swing kinda, but i love them anyway haha
