Pole handle to the face?

Took the back of my pole handle straight to the lower cheek and am wondering if it might be safer to ski without poles?

depends on what you are doing. if you are skiing powder, moguls or real steeps and variable stuff it is for sure safer to ski with poles. other than that they aren’t necessary tbh. up to you

Yeah Im more talking about park skiing

Don’t worry too much about it i’ve been skiing park with medium-long poles for years and thats never happened. Sounds like a freak accident more than anything

Yeah you're probably right. landed short on a 360, knuckled and pole went straight to the face. I know a kid who had the exact same thing happen and he broke his tooth. Lucky to say I just got a sore jaw and some battle wounds.

i got a pole in my upper lip when i was skiing in the trees, i was navigating a narrow path and somehow in the middle of a pole plant i managed to pole plant a tree. straight to my face, i still have a round shaped scar from the strap screw under my moustache. i remember my first thought after being ”is my pole still in one piece?”

Someone at Copper died like 12 years ago cause he landed sideways and took a pole to the side of the head. He didn't have straps on so the grip didn't move out of the way with his hand when he went down.

I know a guy that got internal bleeding from skewering himself on his pole

Shoved my pole handle into my stomach once and bruised my kidney, still ski with poles tho.

Ah man dude, I also Cobain’d myself last year with my pole. Cracked me right under the jaw. I can’t believe I didn’t lose any teeth still, just a bruise.

Shorter poles I guess, that’s what I did. I’m rockin 42s now. At 5’10 I think they’re a good size to still be functional for pushing, while still small enough to be out of the way

I got myself bad enough in the jaw one time I thought I bit the tip of my tongue off. Blood everywhere. Ended up needing a root canal for one of my front teeth. Ended up wearing a mouth guard for awhile after that
