Pocket Rockets?

I can get new 2004 Pocket Rockets with a Salomon 912Ti binding for about 500-550. Do you think I should go for that, or wait for next years skis? Please no 'Salomon sucks, etc', need serious advice here. Would rather get the pistols, but its a really good price...

If you dont ski more than 50 days a year then get the pr's, otherwise you will have noodles halfway through the season

if you can spend the extra cash, I'd buy the pistols because they should hold up better than the pocket rockets. This is coming from somebody who supports salomon.

i broke pocket rockets stomping a 20 foot cliff into 5 feet of powder. i weigh 115 pounds. that doesn't make me feel like the construction of the ski is real solid.

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

Graphics schmaphics, its the ski that makes the difference, not the pretty pictures on the front. I would save for the PEs, I dont have either, so Im not biased. The spaceframe seems like a load of bs personally, loses its pop pretty damn quickly. As I have heard before, 'Foam is for shaving.'

In tractor pulls, a 'full pull' is the best you can get. Ahh, how sport mirrors life.

I have skied the pocket rockets, and I wasn't that impressed. In soft snow, they are fun for short turns and manuever easily. However, off jumps they have little to no pop and their flexibility makes it harder to stomp landing if you are in the back seat. Also, fast and long turns made me feel like I was out of control because they vibrate quite a bit and bounce over everything. Hard snow conditions are not very good because it is hard to get a good edge in.

I own a pair of little big fats that I like so much better. Just as fun in short turns, but way more stable in everything else. I have heard great things of the MadTrix Mojo, but that is going to be a stiffer ski as well. $500 for PRs and bindings is a pretty good deal, but if they aren't what you want, you will regret it later.

^ maybe the PRs are too big for you to handle ... i own a pair of PRs and they're sick all over the Mtn. Park, groomers, pow. Dont know what all this crap about losing their pop is .... mine are the original PRs and they're still rip the park.

I think you'll find it hard to stomp a landing on any ski when landing back seat .... the tails of the prs are pretty huge and if any thing help your landing more when you land backseat

i've never had a problem with my pr's on groomers, so not sure what you're talking about with the vibrating and feeling like you're out of control, maybe you're skiing too far backseat, i dunno.

PR are nice i loved ridin them in whistler but the foam core blows and are easyly broken. get a pair of pistols or better yet get a pair of Mo'ships

^^I'm not talking about soft groomers. PRs are fine there. Harder snow is where I did not like them, and I can guarantee that I wasn't skiing in the backseat. It's not that they are too big to handle, I rode 175s and they were just fine for me, 5'11'' 165lbs. All I'm saying is that I think there are much better fat twins on the market if you plan on using them in all snow condititons and on all terrain. Just my opinion.

i still think you're riding way to backseat or that they are to fat for you to handle. I ride mine mainly in Austrlalia and our conditions will make east coast ice look like powder. They handle fine on the hard stuff

i'd say not a bad deal, but i really didn't like the pocket rockets, but taht's just me, they might work really well for you

A homophobe once told me that skiing on parabolics is like getting a blowjob from a gay guy, it feels good until you look down.
