pocket rocket or 1080°

Hey guys,

I know that there are many other skis than the PR and the 1080°, but these are the only one I can buy in my area.

What do you think, which ski is better?

POCKET ROCKET or TENEIGHTY

pocket rocket = backcountry booters, basically....

1080 = all around mountain/park ski

if u live out west i would say the pocket rocket or 1080, but if in the east, 1080

I hate to break it you you, but both those skis use space frame technology which is garbage. I had pocket Rockets, and a few of my friends had the new 1080s and all of our skis had the same problem. The edges crack and break and then the ski delamns under the boot letting water get into the core and then all of our skis snapped right where the back binding hole is. When I tried to get my pocket Rockets warrantied they told me that the ski had been abused on rails, (even though I had done maybe 10 or 15 rails- not enough to do damage) and that salomon couldn't help me. ALL MY FRIENDS GOT THE SAME RESPONSE! Even the manager at the ski store said that this was a major flaw of the new salomon products with space frame technology... and clearly salomon isnt sanding behind their products because they know that the new space frame tech. is shitty. The old 1080s (despite plastic tips breaking off) were unbelievably strong.. you see many people on the old yellow ones today... but salomon's new product is absolute shit. If I was you, I'd try to order some Public Enemies or Scratchs- which are much cheaper and stronger than 1080s- off the internet. Good luck dude.

Yeah if you are going to do backcountry i would go with the pocket rockets. More all mountain the 1080. I have the 10s and they kick ass. And whoever said they didn't get theirs warrentied...maybe your ski shop didn't try to hard to get them warrientied. Most of the time companys do warrenty broken or delaminated skis. I guess it just depends on the rep you get.

 
Meh, Ive never had probs with my new 10s, and Ive slid plenty of rails, the edges crack a tiny bit but that happens with EVERY ski, the rail heats up your edge from feirce friction, then the snow cools it down instantly fucking the metal over.

Anyhow I absolutely love my 10s, they ski park great and the rest of the mountain excellent. They dont handle well on ice however, especially after youve grinded a few times. Get the PRs if you want to ski pow and off piste stuff like 70% of the time. If you split your time between park and big mtn go with the 10s.

If you cant afford both I would get the 1080º because you can still use those in the backcountry and they are good in the park. I don't know though, by the sounds of this spaceframe technology I would look for a different company.

i'd go with pocket rocket, just cause if you wanna go backcountry you can, and if you wanna go park you can. I think it's the best go anywhere do anything ski you could get

Go with prs or better yet motherships and if u can't afford them Karhu Jaks yeah they're tele skis but they're basically the same as motherships and u can mount alpines on em

yah Turpin often uses Seth pistol's in the Whistler Park. And if you don't believe me about that Space Frame Technology or Salomons warranty, then have fun dealing with it yourself!
