Pocket Rocket hatred?

I am getting a fat deal on the '05 PR's and I see a lot of people hatin' on em in the posts. What's the deal? I rode the scratch BC last season...how do they compare?

noodles = not tortionally or laterally stiff. ie: They get thrown around by crud. Foam (spaceframe) = they break in half when you drop cliffs on them or take them in the park. Anything else you need help with?

'My knee hurts' (Jeff Merat after grinding a lunch table for an hour instead of sitting in the ski patrol shack for his torm mcl and acl which he got earlier that day.)

'I'm not asking for any help, just maybe for you to get off your ass.'(my dad)

Word. Thanks for the info. I can dig on the softness and the lightness, but that whole breaking in the park comment seems a little ridiculous. I have never seen a pair of skis snap in half.

^Ride the PRs for two days either big mountain or park and you will see a ski break in half. I wish I would have gotten a picture of my 114lb friend breaking his on his first day on them...needless to say he has mo-ships now.

yeah i've never seen a pair break...but have seen a few pairs of armadas break and they're supposedly 'bulletproof' so whatever

salomon makes crap and they could care less about the progression of the sport. try and support companies whos owners actually ski, care about the sport we all love, and aren't owned by adidas. look into line, armada, 4frnt, liberty, ninthward, etc. before making a decision. there are so many new ski companies out there right now, it's ridiculous.

oh and get a different icon.

wow some of you people are stupid, the foam core is just the same as any wood core, the pocket rockets are a very stable ski.

sorry henry but a foam core is not like a wood core. i mean if we think about this a little we can see that foam and wood are two very differnt substances which will react to pressure, flex and stress in very differnt manners. its really a personal prefrence i'm sure some people love the foam cores and have had a great time on them but their are also people who snap them or break them from the inside out and say what the fuck? so its up to you

Work is like anti-hippie spray; they stay the fuck away from it

they're a great ski if you're a 60 year old man skiing groomers on them. god i can't tell you how many old people i've seen on these. old people like them because they're so soft and they don't ski aggressively enough on them to snap them. i tried a pair at their demo days last year and they're very, very soft.

Ive been ridin PRs for two seasons now and i havent had a single problem with them. infact i think i like them better than my scratches.

Who wrote 'Da Moon Rules #1' on my car with a key!

I have never skied PR's but i have had 1080's with spaceframe technology and they delam really easy....I have delaminated 3 pairs of salomons...so i would suggest staying away from them if you ride hard.

Saloman makes crap eh? How soon we forget that they were the comapany that brought the twin tip into the public eye...I wouldnt call that not supporting the people that were progessing skiing...Anyway, I would love to buy armadas and 4frnts and all that but the truth is I can't afford them! My buddy is hooking me up on these PRs for a sick price. I was just asking why everyone was hating on them. I got my answer loud and clear.

Some people only see that I'm white ignoring skill cause I stand out like a green hat with an orange bill...

yeah, they brought the 1080 out after the new canadian air force begged them for a few years. they didnt 'bring it out' they were forced too. and they have barly changed it in 6 years.

in science class i sat down to fast and you know how you can sit on your balls. well i did and i sat down really fast and crushed them and right when i sat down i started puking and fell out of my chair. they teacher laughed. i felt like i could pass out i wanted to die.-*NWFT*nUkkA

Whoa, they're not THAT bad. The only thing bad about foam is that it doesn't last as long. It's a lot lighter than wood and is as strong at first. But the properties of foam just aren't as condensed as wood....it breaks down faster.

The PR is a GREAT ski for the majority of skiers in this world. It's one of the best all around sticks I've ridden and was the first ski of its kind. To whomever said Salomon doesn't give a shit about where the sport is going, remember the Pocket Rocket, because that was the most innovative ski on the market when it came out.

Torsionally, the ski is stable, laterally, it is not. It is 'a noodle', but this isn't bad for many of the riders in this world. So many people underflex skis it's sad. And they don't snap in the park, either. Whoever said that is full of shit. If it does snap, count on a warrenty.

PR gets bad karma because it's not really a ski a lot of the higher end skiers in the world are looker for. Funny, though...how it's still one of the best selling skis in the world and has been for the last 4 years. It must be okay.

What does it matter that Salomon came out with the first twins or what ever, there skies brake. I rode my PR’s like 8 times and blew out the edge. They are great in the pow, but don’t hold up on anything else! I also broke 2 other Salomon skies in under one season!

salomon used to use wood cores a while ago didnt they? i thought thats when they were appriciated

id really just go with the moship flites, line is the real deal, and they stepped it up this year

Ha, ha...this argument always come up.

Bottom line, if you like the way they ski buy them. It's simple. I can tell you that I own both 1080s and PR's, and I've never had problems with either. I ski my PR's ridiculously hard...

I will agree that the PR's are a bit unstable at high speeds. But for powder, which is why they were created in the first place, they cannot be beat. Buy a GS ski if you're looking for speed.
