Poc helmet padding question

hey ns, i have a sweet xl poc helmet, and it fits, except when i wear it with my goggles under its really tight. i haven't used it yet, bought it new in an off season sale. once i start using it regularly is the padding going to pack out? or should i remove the padding? my problem is that if the padding's gone, the velcro sticks to my goggle strap, and i don't really want to duct tape over the velcro like my last helmet.

ok that was pretty scattered, but anyone got a suggestion? anyone got some experience?

I agree with post above, in my experience the padding will not pack out at all really and I just wear my goggles outside my helmet because it is so much more comfortable. You bought a high quality helmet, why not use it the proper way instead of worrying about looks? Just my opinion of course and as a side note the goggle clip thing is useless...dont even bother with it

my exact set up as well, so sick and functional and comfy!

is there even 1 good reason why one would wear their goggles underneath ?(besides steeze) i think it sucks bawls that everytime you want to put your goggles off you have to pull em down or tilt your helmet back and put em on your forehead and hope they don't slip down...

just interested.... no hate, i do wear mine underneath occasionally as well because it looks G :)

but just wondering if there is an actual advantage about it ?

well find it a lot easier to wear, its more comfy for me, but i thought the reason people wear it under is cuz now you need a helmet to ride park(atleast in quebec), so you can take it and just put it on? its also easier to just put ur goggles down when its dark... but the biggest part is its MAD STEEZY lol

i was always against it and i just started wearing my goggles under my helmet this year and i fucking love it. this way i can take my helmet off and my goggs are still on. and i think it is more comfortable, i really dont feel it pulling on my nose and when i put them over it was pulling on my cheeks so it is better imo.

I have it under so i dont take my goggles off all the time. Its also more comfortable.

If you constantly take them off and on they will fog.

I have a fucking huge head, and my goggles legitimately don't fit over my helmet without killing my face with how tight they are, that's why I wear them under.

And let's not lie, it does look sweeter

I wear them under in the park because it does look better, and I usually take them off on the lift anyway. When I'm in the backcountry I ALWAYS go funtion over form so the goggles go over.

when i wore my goggles over my helmet they always just fell off and hund off the back. thats why i dont wear goggles. also because mine were stolen

I/O and poc receptor bug size xl, hardly fits on my head with the pads in. I took the pads out, and with my goggles under the helmet, it fits perfectly. I spoke with the Giro rep for Utah and he told me that pads will do nothing in a crash, they are just for comfort... so whatever is more comfortable. I used to rock goggles over the helmet, but i find that I have less gap and less goggle movement when I wear them under.

Yup.

I always used to wear my helmet under my gogs, changed when I had to take it on and off a lot for work. Liked how it looked and felt, so stuck with it. Also you don't lose goggles, and the goggle straps don't get so stretched.

thanks, this is actually really helpful. i took the pads off my old helmet too, but i didn't want to hurt the new one. if it really doesn't matter i'll just do it again i suppose.

to everyone else: i think its really just a comfort thing. i used to wear them over, but i find it more comfortable and less gap with them under. i have a friend who just can't wear his helmet over his goggles, its just preference. i'll try it both ways, but i don't want to cover up my stickers haha. anyway, thanks for all the interesting opinions.
