We dont need to, just have to ride the day after 2in of rain and its just as firm.

At pebble creek (southeast idaho) we haven't gotten a good snowfall for a couple weeks, and aren't supposed to for a couple more. Its been hot too, like it reminds me of spring skiing. But it's only January...

even in park city we've had a pretty warm season, we've only really gotten 2 actual snowfalls and it was wet pow both times. other than that we've hardly gotten anything.

probably still better than rain though

Keeps getting hot in SoCal, then cold enough to blow snow, then it rains all day and washes the snow away. Rinse and repeat so far.

raining to top of whistler right now, its awful but atleast when we get pow all the cliffs will be bigger

the Wasatch back always gets snubbed with snow. the storm two weeks ago was pretty good. the cottonwoods are in great shape, but this high pressure is kicking our asses. only supposed to get warmer this weekend. in the 50's in PC by Monday. surf city, yo.

Yeah its been scuba sessions at Baker all season. Hoping at some point this winter is better for skiing than golf.

Like this is new. It's called Juneuary motherfuckers. Get used to it.

...Except the snowpack in the central WA Cascades is around 35% of normal and the short- and long-term forecasts are pretty dire for any kind of significant bounceback. This transcends the 'Juneuary' blandness that has occurred in many of the recent years.

Everyone sounds surprised... El Nino, remember? All the long range forecasts this fall were calling for this. At this point, jut hope that March turns on as per usual.

going off the coast to places that do not have mountains... bummer only getting maybe 18"

Revy's doing pretty well after a slow start. We're sitting at ~600cm total snowfall for the season with almost a 2m base. It warmed up to the top last night and today (2°C) and looks like it'll be that way for the next day or two, but on the plus side all the precipitation fell as snow before the warming. We should be pretty good as soon as temperatures drop and we get some fresh.

SCUBA season: when neoprene is the best outerwear you can have, you have legitimate concrens about flash flooding while on the mtn, and the snow conditions resemble coral reef.

Now you fuckers will believe us when we say it really only ever does rain. Jeez glad we could finally convince you.

Those were predictions and it hasn't been an El Nino year. Up until the latest report (today, Jan 26th) it's been ENSO-Neutral.

There's a 50% probability of El Nino for the next 2 months, neutral after that.

Just a bad year.

worst season ive ever had in Whistler and the North Shore.

Vancouver mountains can hardly open, and whis has barespots all over

what about last year? the alpines definitely been in better shape this year...but yea forget about the trees for now.

ya whis alpine has been better, but its kinda getting worse now, and there are bear spots near to of emerald so i would say its worse then last year

It seems like we always dry out in January, but the problem is the past two years we haven't gotten enough December storms to build up a base to last us through the dry spell

The PNW will redeem itself, it always does! In the meantime, Montana.

I am truly hoping this happens but as of now it looks like it will be time for water sports sooner than later. Warm winters are lame...

I officially pulled the rip cord on my winter with 1 day on the snow (at Alta). I walked to the coffee shop yesterday morning in flip flops and a tank top.
