if you bend them into shape and then heat them up over a stove i have heard you can re shape them. I saw a thread a while ago on skibuilders.com about somebody who did that.
 
On snowfix they rockered their skis by drilling holes in the tips and tails, then threading some cord through them and tightening it, looked easier but i guess then you have holes in your skis
 
Me and my bro are in the process of making some pow skis. The first pair that came out had way too little tip tho. It sure was a pain in the ass getting a hose big enough for the press.
 
about two years back i tried making plywood skis. i might still have them i'll try to get a pic...
 
check my pictures. all wood. normal base and edges. easily the most fun and lively skis I have ever skied on.

But when I was like 6 or 7 i wanted my own skis really bad so i painted tow pieces of wood like forest green and pretended they were skis. I dont think I ever tried to use them, i just kinda thought it was cool. haha
 
a bend my popsicle sticks in the shape of skis all the time, i can make rockered skis, regular cambered, reverse cambered and both twin and single tippers !

(i also make micro snowparks in the sand on the beach and ski down them with my brand new popsicle skis to test their performance)

I made these back in 1999 before there were fat twin tips. They're called the Double Dragons. dimensions are 145, 117, 135, in a 193. Each ski is made out of two skis. Their held together with titanium rods every 5cm, through the cores and a bit of carbon glue on top. These skis used to run shit at Alta back in the day.

i made a cheap press that used foam and rubber as a substitute for a fire hose. It will work for a cheap snowblade but if you want a pow ski i had problems with having too much pressure on the tips, not enough in the center and a bending press. you can make really cheap and effective snowblade presses that make decent skis. $50 A PAIR!
 
sidewalls are wood. everything is wood except the base, edges, and bindings. i have taken the pair i shaped after the 08 dumonts in the park. they rode well. i only hit a couple of small jumps. no spinning and no rails. i was to afraid they wouldn't hold up. I have to do some work on them but when i get them back on snow i can try and make a little edit.
 
I've helped make a pair of MOMENTS, by that i mean I handed the wood to Spencer who was at the CNC machine....does that count? Ohh and I also got to grab food for them....Thats a vital step in making skis.
