I've actually had my opinions and stances change thanks to people on here. Not anyone recently but in the past I have.

NS is very civil when it come to politics if you compare it to more popular social media platforms.

I've changed opinions based on arguments other NSers have had. Usually there is no chance of the people actually posting changing their view, but I feel as though there is usually a pretty solid argument on both sides and I can use that as a starting point to further look into things and fact check what people are saying.

Yeah in the times 3-4 years ago of frenchy and SJW, you would have those two screaming at each other then some okay political conversation going on in the background. I feel like now people either do not take it seriously at all or take it way to seriously. At least the people that are the most vocal.

Agreed. We all definitely don’t get along but we can usually keep that contained within the thread, there’s only been a few times (at least since I’ve been back being active) that it’s spilled over to other threads. There’s always some shit talking too but it’s usually relatively light.

Right wing terrorism has been on the rise in states for the last couple years. Domestic terrorist attacks are super scary and most of them come from the right wing. Instead of being scared of muslims, be scared of those die hard Trump supporters. You are much more likely to be killed by a right wing terrorist than any other sort of terrorist.

BLM and Antifa have done more in one year than right wing militias have done ever since they have existed. According to this article JUST in MN, riots from BLM and Antifa have caused $500 million in damage in MN.

It's not like they have been protesting for years and literally nothing of substance has been done

If you live in a city you know that the majority of rioters are pissed off locals who are tired of being treated like absolute shit and seeing their friends and family members killed.... and then instead of ending qualified immunity, they write "end racism" on the football field. Then the media lumps them in with all the shrill SJW's who have no fucking idea what it's like growing up in the hood. Can you imagine how insulting that must feel? The locals know that their struggle is not the one being publicized and they're not gonna get any airtime except on the news if they get shot. So yea. they're gonna riot.

If you want to focus on "BLM ANTIFA BAD" then use their most retarded points as easily defeated strawmen, rather than focusing on the substantive issues, the rioting will continue until those problems are addressed.

I object to the position that we should ignore the actual cause of the unrest, "because they riot and rioting is bad. so therefore anyone with those views is wrong and I'm gonna double down against them". You're just pissing people off more. It's a positive feedback loop. If we want to end the unrest we have to stop pretending everything is fine and make some meaningful, well thought out changes.
