There was a DVD authoring problem with the DVD's. Here's what the email said from Charles Boileau, of Plehouse:
Dear Pléhouse customers,
It has been brought to our attention that some DVD players may experience slight difficulties playing Red Tape. Pléhouse films have taken the decision to delay the delivery of the pre-ordered DVDs and have them reduplicated. Please understand we have taken this decision in order to make sure everyone who purchased Red Tape has a chance to experience it in its fullest quality. We sincerely apologize for this situation and are taking every measure to make sure you get your copy of Red Tape promptly.
and a follow-up...
We have discussed the DVD duplication issue with our distributor and we have come to the conclusion that the marginal number of erroneous DVDs could not justify a recall. However, should your copy of Red Tape be one of the few that have trouble playing, please send it to Video Action Sports for a prompt exchange. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope this situation will not diminish your enjoyment of Red Tape.
