Weird....I was at big Boulder that same day and forgot extra cash to rent skis. I was walking around trying to find skis that fit my boot and stumbled across some kf razorbladez and they fit perfectly. What a coincidence haha I don't think ur was your friends though I took them later in the day

Ski theft is messed up. Somebody needs to come up with a solution so that you don't need to use one of those cable locks because they are a huge hassel. Almost like a removable heel piece with a lock code or something so you can just take it with you and it almost guarantees that the ski won't get stolen. Or replace all ski racks with the ones that have the option of using a ski lock key.

Boulders response to us was that we shouldve used their ski check but, we didn't even know about it and it's really inconvenient like we are normally skiing 95% of the time we are there like maybe comming in for like 2 breaks all day, and I'm not gonna walk out of my way down stairs to give my skis to someone just to walk back after 5 min and have them look for my skis, they have zero cameras, and really don't care it's kinda dumb imo I mean I guess they would be more liable if they did have cameras, but the cop that came down when we filed the police report said he's down there multiple times a day for the same issue

well I mean technically speaking they're not liable. They have ski check and locking racks so that they aren't. You not using those features is on you. I don't use them either but it's a risk we take. Sucks your friend lost his skis but you can't blame big boulder tbh.

Next time you're skiing with at least one other person, swap one ski with each other or amongst however many of you their are. Then place your skis spread out around the rack area. No one will want an unmatched pair of skis and they aren't going to take the time to look for the other one. Or buy a lock if you're into that.

it's interesting to think about. A lock would suck to fumble around with numb fingers. But maybe there could be some sort of technology on the rack and then a chip on the skis, and an iphone app that sensed when they came apart?

thats my invention though so dont steal my million dollars

one trick though is just to put each ski on a different rack as a deterrent just because the the thief will just go for another pair where he doesnt have to look around.

dude they have this though... you just need a padlock and can use most, if not all ski racks.

I know they aren't liable and I also understand that cameras would make them have some kind of liability which they wouldn't want, and also we normally do swap skis, but we literally sat are skis down ran in for 10 min to grab our stuff to leave and came out and they were gone, I'm actually really thankful mine weren't stolen, my 2017 b dogs were sitting right next to them, and I start working next sat at my local mtn

None of the racks at my resort. Most of them are full anyway so I have to hind a fence or something. I got a cable lock for now but I plan on finding a better way next season once I have money to drop.

I always used to do this until one day this thought occurred to me: Is a ski thief gonna check to make sure the skis match? Odds are they will see one side of the pair of skis, and if it's a ski they want, they will grab them and get out of there as quick as possible only to realize later that they don't match. Now you and your buddy are both out of a pair of skis.

To OP I hope your friend gets his skis back. I ski at Boulder a lot and I'll keep an eye out.

Now that you know there is a ski check use it. If you only take 2 breaks a day its not that much more difficult. I know next time I go to boulder i will probably use it if i dont eat at my car, dont trust none of them grimy snowboardin folk.

damn i was at boulder sat and left some shitty poles that i cut down outside that were duck taped one green and one pink. some crazy mofo just took the pink one and prob shoved it up his/her ass. lemme know if anyone finds my pink pole. thanks... i don't really care but i wanna know what this person did with one pole....

Always leave a combo lock on the rack...

Separate your skis and hide them...

Bring them into the lodge entranceway where you can see them...

Good luck man! I fucking HATE thieves. I wish horrible things on whoever stole them.

Always wanted to mount a few cameras and people around mount snow for pay your age day near the end of the day. Plant a bunch of nice decks and skis on the racks. Have people watching them while blending into the crowd. Wait for people to steal them and either beat the shit out of them, or probably better call the police and have everything filmed.

Especially the people that steal multiple. You could make a bullshit "Oh I grabbed the wrong pair" with one, but if you have 5 snowboards and 4 pair of skis in your car that aren't yours, yeah right.

Mount snow used to have a really bad problem with it. Like one pay your age day, one of the kids I brought had his gear jacked and I think something like 6 board, maybe more and a few pair of skis went missing that day.

If any of you steal peoples shit FUCK YOU! If any of you sit and let your friends steal other peoples shit, FUCK YOU!

God hates thieves.

Seriously good luck OP/OP's friend. Such a shitty feeling. I only had one board get jacked but it's such a shit feeling.

It does suck a lot, I'm actually really greatful mine weren't taken (sitting right next to his) cause I start work at my hill sat. Currently in the process of searching craigslist and contacting shops and people to look out for em, atleast they aren't common skis I wonder what type of person even steals skis, even if I was living on the street I would never steal especially skis, when I know some kid or his parents worked hard to pay for em
