PLEASE READ IMPORTANT: RCR RESORTS = TERMINATING PARK PROGRAM

It's because insurance prices keep going up for resorts that have jumps, especially after that lawsuit in Washington.
 
Honestly, FUCK the people who filed the lawsuit. I don't give two shits about their side of the story...just because you had bad luck it doesn't mean you can fuck an entire culture over.

and a boycott of rcr resorts would be much more effective than a petition.

just dont go to any of the resorts that got rid of jumps, tell your friends not to ride there, tell your mom not to ride there. 

once they see a significant drop in lift ticket sales and realize they are losing money and customers to resorts with jumps they will figure out a way to bring jumps bank

wow the kimberley park is now the rail park. i thought they changed their minds. i realy want to move. so many jumps will be built around the hill though

Hello. I am a skier at one of your mountains that has recently heard the news of the abscence of park fetures this year. Let me tell you, I love to ski more than anyhting on this earth and the thaught of not doing the thing i love makes me more sad than you can imagine. Ever since I can remember, I come back when the new season begins and cannot keep the smile off my face. the first thing I do is refresh all my tricks on the jumps and I can not imagine not being able to do that anymore. My point is, that by not having a park, you are potentially ruining the lives of hundreds, or even thousands of individuals who love skiing more than life itself. By dismembering the hills of their parks you gain nothing, and will more likely even lose a significant amount of buisiness, by the snowboarding community too. However, what you producing is an overwhelming sadness of all the skiers and snowboarders who dreams and hapiness are now extingished. Sure, you may gain a bit of peace of mind by doing this, but in my opinion, the livelyhoods of hundreds to thousands outweighs that overwhelmingly. It may sound to you as if I'm off my rocker and that park skiing actually doesn't matter all that much. But when you love skiing as much as I do, skiing without a park is like skiing on wet astroturf for all who this implementation effects. Do the right thing.

i have really disliked sunshine in the past, and have thought it as half the mountain louise is, but after all this....i will be spending a lot more time at the shine!
 
i can't wait until they build amazing parks the following season after realizing that they now have twice the liability from dumb ass kids trying to build their own two foot wide, backflip slinger features outside of the park.
 
No. insurance costs are directly correlated to liability, and to a greater or lesser extent a resort is liable for what takes place on their hill. A personal injury lawsuit is quite often related to negligence, and in our case the defendant would be RCR. Unauthorized jumps are a liability and therefore a concern for those in charge because someone who "accidentally" hit one of these jumps could claim that a resort was negligent in not ensuring that the runs are free of obstacles.

So, if anything, terrain parks have come to existence at least in part to provide a contained and authorized place to jump, and if properly built should actually reduce the chances of such lawsuits. thats how i would read that situation anyways.
 
What a bunch of p*ssies up there in Canada running those resorts.

Removing jumps isn't moral. Its stupid. The "moral" thing to do would be to implement a park pass program, like what they have at Stratton and Mammoth.

And they're still keeping rails? All rails and no jumps? For safety? Sounds like Brighton.

i don't really see myself as being negative. i'm seeing things clearly and realistically.

whether this is a business decision or not, people need to realize that any decision made by the resort is going to stand.

by all means go ahead and try. i would love to see RCR reverse this decision but with people posting a person's email all over these message boards, there will undoubtedly be ignorant comments made towards this person via email and phone. if i was in his place, all i would think is "why should i care?"

all the advice i would offer is that everyone tread lightly.

 
resorts are in the business to make money not to progress the sport 

nomensteve is right, they arent goign to give a shit about your bitching or your petitioning unless they see a financial reason to bring back jumps. boycott that shit and get your family and your friends family to also. park skiers/boarders make up a small percentage of riders at a mountain so youll have to get everyone you know in on the boycott

Wow, don't they realize this is only going to result in people attempting stupid things on groomers, side trails, and every handrail in those resorts?? God, people need to be liable for themselves when they go skiing.
 
i was so pissed when i found out about this. its a good think that sunshine has been stepping their park up over the past 2 or 3 seasons. and that leaves us with just good old C.O.P

this thread is taking a wrong turn, we need to keep it formal with actaully intellegent responces not jsut hating on the paralized kid. IF it stays intellegent then this thread could be used as a voice of the ppl jsut send the link in an email to the RCR rep. But they will disregard it if its all typical NS hate.
 
I hate to be a downer but RCR won't budge on this one. They didn't buy any insurance for jumps so they won't be making them...period!!!!

i bought an rcr super pass and used it twice before i found out about this

so today in the paper there is an article and the rcr is giving a refund to whoever is upset by the policy

i paid early bird price and that was 700 i want to get my refund at the non early bird price because now i have to buy a new pass which i wont be able to get at an early bird price im going this weekend and ill let you guys now how i make out

this really sucks it lame excuse to not have to pay incsurance on big features to make money

there is no way im keeping my pass even if i dont get full refun ill take my money somewhere else

I agree they wont budge....but that doesnt mean we cant punish them by everyone boycotting their resorts!!!
