freezy yea its easy to have the tag but would just be that much easier if there was button

1) Change 'Classifieds' to a forum becasue everyone posts their shit for sale in the SKi Equipment gabber. * Most important *

2) When you go to reply and it sends you to the white box to type in there should be the code for posting links/pics below the box for copy and paste purposes...I always go to NS help if i need to and its a bit of a pain.

3) With the dropdown at the top, when you highlight Forums, it would be neat to have a slide out dropdown beside forums with the different forums to make it easier to get to em off the start

4) Don't use those generic forums . One reason NS is different is because its forum is different. NO SMILIES!

I have a huge problem with a total reworking of the forum structure. Aesthetic changes are one thing, but if you start throwing in feature after feature, or worse, using some kind of vbulletin-like model, the place will run ridiculously slowly, especially given all the members on here. As it is, it's reasonably quick, compared to many other sites. I also agree with people on the 'No emoticons, no easier pic posting' thing... some people might prefer it, but it's going to cause WAY more harm than good. I very much concur with the idea of a limited edit-post feature of 5 minutes and the addition of a classifieds forum.

Also, and this has been suggested in the past, could you add a 'Mass-PM' feature for cult leaders, so that they can message all the members at once? I know GD would appreciate it.

i was talking to cko awhile ago about the 'message the entire cult' feature, but limit that to leaders, or just the master....... i think that would be great. by limiting it to the leaders, it would cut down on the spam as well.

another thing that i heard that i like would be the scroll over the thread to bring up a snippet from the thread, so you don't have to go in if it sucks......... that would make my 56k NSing much better :).

and a definite no to the smilies and emoticons, they would totally bog down the site. easier image uploads as well, that would be a pain in the arse. if people can't figure out how to upload a picture into the 'misc' section, they shouldn't be using images.

and one other thing that would be craazy cool would be to be able to add a few cults to your quick links..... idk how hard that would be to integrate, but, it would be cool.

but i think that the NS forums are good..... and don't need a new 3rd party type of thing brought in....... just my $0.02

Thanks for all the suggestions guys... some of these will definetly be added soon.

The forums will be re-worked. I'll make it look exactly the same, but with a few more features. Signatures will be limited to a paragraph, and posts will be filtered to allow only certain kinds of HTML tags. I doubt that this will slow down the site any. The current forums already have a few implementation flaws that reduce performance, I'll make sure to fix these. It should even out.

BTW Emoticons are out... nobody wants them. ;)

I just thought of some ideas.

A mountain of the month/week on the front page!! Similar to member of the month, but, updated more often and not taking up as much space. You could click on the link which takes you to a more detailed page. People could submit their own writeups on their local mountain or one they traveled too. Pix would be necessary!! You could select the best writeups to post in the case there are multiple submissions. It would be cool to check out some smaller mountains that many of us have no idea about. I think it would be so sick!

Another idea, is for a quick link, dropdown type, for the cults. The dropdown would include all of the cults you belong to, easier access means more action in my opinion.

Get rid of the Quick Chat... I see absolutly no point in it, and thats the only thing thats slow on here, it keeps uploading every 5 seconds. Also, add a edit, even if it is just for 5 minutes, it will take up less space, because we wont have to create another post just fixing or adding something we forgot.

 
Oh thank god I just figured out how to turn it off... Why do you need a list of the users online? Maybe just a little indicator on each post they have showing if their on or not

 
This may sound weird,but I would suggest that someone cleans up the tricks section.Ive been thinking only the staff can write new tricks in the trick book because Im tired of seing stupid things in the trick section.

One thing that would be good is a title to the forums. So when you are in the Ski Gabber, you can easily tell what forum you are in.

i have to agree with mauii and mikee...i dont think we really need the smileys or easy picture posting. if people cant deal with an easy HTML tag, they shouldnt post pictures. and the ability to go back and edit posts makes threads really confusing, i think. NS Radio is a great idea though.

ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

1) Secure organized classifieds forum.

2) Search not only site sections but different forum sections too. ex. ski-gabber, non ski gabber etc.

4) completely re-do the cluts. alot of them are dead and people dont go anymore. maybe be able to have pic or video sections in the cluts themselves to keep people comming back.

3) more cult master controls like, being able to delete posts, send multiple people messages like to all of your leaders or the whole clut, invite more than one person at a time.

k here is one I want cause I'm really shallow, but when randoms message me I like to view their profile right away to see if I want to answer back. Unfortunately, if I haven't been at my comp for a while the person sending the message may have logged off already, which means I have to go to the members section and scroll through the entire letter page to get to the profile of whoever sent me the message, and so many names are the same that you might not find the right profile. So, if you get a message from someone, can you please add a link with the message that allows you to view their profile? it would make life much easier. thank you! (p.s. I'm liking what is happening with the site.)

The quotation mark thing is a bit of a trick in PHP. The code that is in place now doesn't handle it so well, but once I redo the forums they will work in posts and signatures.

Under Quick Links, have the Donator's Forum link appear all the time. i.e. It disappears when you're looking at individual messages, but is present when viewing indices and posting a reply. Problem is in ReadTopic.php4.

ListTopic.php4 and PostReplya.php4 are ok.

i really like ryno's idea posted way up there about having the text to link a url or to insert a picture be uncer the reply box when you are typing a message, so that people could just copy and paste it from right there without having to go to different parts of the site. I dont know how much trouble it would be to get that in there, but i for one would really appreciate it.
