However I agree with this tho, I don't like the style but I hold nothing against it. I'd rather everyone not look the same.

Saga is so trash

but I see why you wear it

usually people wear saga cause they have no style

Really? Their 3L is actually a pretty solid deal if you're looking to have outerwear that actually protects you from the elements. The build is also pretty damn good. I don't wear it to trend whore. I wear it for the function

BTW, You ride a scooter in the skate park. You should probably stop doing the gayest thing imaginable before you talk shit scooter boy.

I hate people that claim they bought something for function when they're obviously a trendwhore.

ok first this has nothing to do with what I do outside of skiing.

second I really don't care anymore.

third stop hating on people for being trendy, because I wear my bib with a sweatshirt tucked in and I have tons of other layers underneath so I don't get cold.

And by the looks of your NS feedback you don't seem like a very nice person.

saga's the most hated company in skiing right now not exactly trend whoring

Why do you care?

Unless its dumping and or a pow day I wear a hoodie, its what I like to wear. I just dress smart underneath, long john pants and shirts are the key and maybe a liner too. Otherwise it has to be windy or the snow guns have to be blowing.

This thread is why I feel like free-skiing has the most toxic of communities.

I skate. I snowboard sometimes. I'm into cars, cameras, and the gaming scene.

I'm not saying I don't love it but..Newschoolers and free-skiing has the most toxic community of all.

The fuck? What kind of videos games are you playing where they arent the most toxic, cancerous humans ever bred? Minesweeper?

The ski community is unique and amazing. The internet presence, well thats not on the same level yet.

Okay let me clarify. I feel like the gaming was a bad example, but at the same time there is a difference between a 12 something saying he banged my mum, and what goes on in skiing.

Let me give a comparison. I'm at the skate park skating. In about as good of a skater as I am a skier. When I go and do a relatively easy trick, but for the first time everyone gets stoked. The preppy kids, the stoners, the metal kids, kids wearing bunk ass clothing, everyone's hyped and nobody really give a fuck about anything besides enjoying the sport.

I go skiing on opening day after dealing with a knee injury. So I go cruising through the park and as I do so I get dirty looks, other park rats talking shit about how I can't even kfed, and other skiers shaking their heads when I do the only tru trick.

Later in the season I've progressed and joined the ranks of these skiiers and what do I hear as we watch others drop? It goes something like this.

*kid drops in wearing Oakley sweatshirt

"Fucking gaper get the fuck out of here you snake"

*kid does kfed

"That was the worst fucking kfed I've seen in my life. I bet his parent paid for him to be coached and he still is shit"

*kid wears suspenders over sweatshirt

"That's so fucking dumb we need to kill this trend. Holy hell that fucker looks dumb"

*kid does flatspin

"God his style is awful"

*Kid having himself filmed by friend

"Wow what a Jerry. I hate jerrys. Theyre all shit skiers"

Etc. Etc.

There's no hype and there's no love. Everybody is critical and judging everybody else. I've noticed that it is much more obvious among the skiing community than others.

Now I'm not saying this applies to everything...but this thread is a really good example. Who gives a fuck what he is wearing. As long as you ski and you're not an asshole you're a friend to me. Unfortunately that is not true for the majority of the community.

Ive only experienced what you are talking about from a few kids in the EC comp circuit namely from waterville valley but that was a few years back. Since then i havent run into that kind of bullshit. Idk where you ski but i aplogoize on behalf of those dumbass kids for not knowing what freeskiing is about

Like I said, it doesn't apply to all of it. There's a lot of good stuff. Maybe us Midwest kids are all just edgy because winter lasts like two months and all we have are rail gardens.

I don't wanna quote the long post but yeah that's super true.

Last year I was hiking a rail in our park and had someone come up to me and tell me to leave because girls aren't allowed in parks. He went as far as to get mountain safety to kick me out but they told him to chill out.

This summer I was skiing and was told there were people at the top of the park making fun of how I ski and shit like that.

Skiing definitely has its assholes but there's also a lot of really great people out there! Best thing you can do is ignore it and spread good vibes instead of all the bs!

I tyhink you are over analyzing it a bit, I think however you slide on snow is cool. But some shit trends that snowboarders already play out need to be left with snowboarders to die the death they deserve.

I feel like on the slopes the people are generally respectful and dope with each other, at least that's what I've experienced in summit county. It's just on NSers that we become dicks and try and compensate

Holy shit man, but my hill is not like that. My hill may be an utter shithole, but the park has a skatepark vibe and it's always a good time unless it's icy as fuck

Maybe it's just my area. It was not at all the case when I was out in Taos or Alta.

It just has become more obvious I guess as I'm on ns more often and when compared to other things I do.

Unfortunately my experience has been overwhelmingly similar to highschool in a cliche 90s movie.

But it's something I love doing and I have good friends to ski with so in the end the uncomfortable and tense vibes are negligible.

Same, at any of my home base mountains, everybody is pretty chill. I've experienced as long as you're willing to send it and try new stuff, nobody talks malicious shit on you. I guess maybe I've just been lucky enough to have chill people around.

Talking shit in general... That's fully acceptable around my area. We all do it but you can definitely tell when somebody is being serious to try and be an asshole to everybody. It's just pointless to go out skiing if you're going to spend an entire day judging others for whatever reason.

As far as NS goes, it's all with a grain of salt. Such is life, not everybody will like everyone else's opinions.

Yeah I mean even Keystone has a pretty nice vibe. If you're a Jerry running through the park you may get some hate but otherwise everyone is really chill. If you lap the lift enough you get to know people and learn from them.

Add your trend that needs to die.

just like man buns, frosted tips, etc. People are just jealous of the extent others will go in the name of style.

and I guess people still think they can get sponsored or that the one chick in the park actually cares about their skiing ability so they have to put down others instead of being motivated to progress and feed off each others abilities.

Idk, I can't find another 20k+ 3L pant that is long enough for myself. I like my ski pants to fit about 1/2" longer than my suit pants (in this case, just slightly above the bottom of the heel of my boot)... And XL saga fits that bill.

If you have any suggestions I am all ears as I will need a new pair of pants next year!

yo i'm right there with you. Switched back to skiing after snowboarding a long ass time during my senior year of highschool. Of course opening day trying to get my feet under me on rails and I can't help but hear shit talking from mass younger kids, and I'm catching fat glares when I ride up to the rail setup. It's shitty, and definitely seems like a midwest thing, because now that I'm out west riding with kids from out here, they're all just really stoked to see me progress. End Douchebagery 2017, don't give a fuck about other people's riding/outerwear decisions/setups unless you're stoked and giving props. Keep ya negativity to yaselves

Ok ok i can understand frosted tips but shitting on manbuns is pretty damn stupid. Buns in general serve a legitimate purpose for long hair. Saying its not ok for guys to do but fine for girls to do makes zero sense to me. Those little hairtied unicorn horns are a different story, but those arent manbuns in the end anyway.

I agree with this, but I will say that I don't fully believe that merely following trends is truly "dressing how you want". Skiers copy what snowboarders do in the dress category, fact. You see a trend in snowboarding & the next season or two it migrates to skiing. The suspender trend, skinny pants etc all started in snowboarding.

Yeah snowboarding has influenced not only us, but the companies putting out clothing for us since they're all apart of the greater picture. Boarders last year hopped on the coaches jacket trend over hoodies and now you've got companies like jiberish embracing them for skiers. It's the circle of product.
