It is getting out of control again and becoming a random thread making forum for anything people happen to have in their home their want to sell. I don't like this and it is not the intended use of the forum. Why is this bad? It pushes sales that actually contain ski equipment off the front page quickly, therefore damaging the entire point of making this forum. Please keep your non-ski gear on Ebay, Craigslist and other places that people are actually in search of your miscellaneous items. Currently on the first page are sales for a macbook, inline skates, lacrosse equipment, an ipod, sunglasses, and probably more that I missed. I have no problem if you are selling a bunch of ski gear and throw some miscellaneous things on the end of your sale, but threads solely for items that should be on Ebay anyway need to cease. If you want to sell those things, please go make an Ebay account or post on Craigslist. It is actually easier, less of a hassle, and more efficient than posting here. Thank you.

Mods, can we agree on this? Can we start policing/removing these type of threads or am I in the wrong on this? Your time is appreciated.
 
I disagree. Whats wrong with Sunglasses?
If someone can sell something here why not? Can help avoid fee's from ebay and even sometimes paypal fee's.
 
Macbook's people may want to edit stuff on for skiingPeople like using ipods when they ski...People cross train with lacrosse..
 
maybe the people that are making those kinda threads want to hook us (ns' ers) up instead of some goomba on ebay. threads move to the top for a reason. bump your threads if you wantg them up top.

yea I disagree with the OP. I'd rather buy/sell from someone on this site that I know is legit, rather then using ebay which always sketches me out.
I can understand where your coming from, wanting to keep it ski related and all, but I don't mind looking at all the random sales people have.
 
i mean it seems to make sense to post inline skates here. first off kids use it to crosstrain, a lot of kids on here skate in the summer since they can't ski. plus ski season is almost over so people want stuff like that. i feel like by posting my stuff here it is getting noticed by its target audience.
 
I agree to a certain extent. For those people who are solely selling a bunch of useless shit, such as a belt, or random video games or something... it is unnecessary. As for things such as computers, ipods, skates, headphones, and sunglasses... I believe that that is acceptable. All of these things can be used while skiing, or for skiing and can in fact be quite useful.
 
I'll go against the grain of most people that posted and say that i agree with 3Xstrum. It seems like ESPECIALLY this time year, peeps want to clean out their closet, and think that since they have one ski-related to sell, they'll just try to unload everything at the same time. I spend a lot of time sifting through the shit that's posted on here that's not about skiing, and it does indeed get annoying. I remember when I could go to the first page the gear forum when it wasn't split, and i could find some super sick sales that were posted previously in the week. Lets make it that way again. You guys are hating because half of you post shit like this in the first place. While it may work for some, it's true that ebay will yield more money despite the fees.
 
That is odd. On Ebay you can get your money back. Here, there is no kind of guarantee or insurance. I've been ripped off here twice(for a couple hundred one time) with about 40 total transactions, on Ebay I've been ripped off once with 900 transactions.

As for the rational that it should pertain to things that somehow relate to skiing: that seems to be a weak excuse to parade junk on the site. Please don't say lacrosse is cross-training for skiing. That is ridiculous. Soon you will pushing the envelope as far as to say that you should sell old textbooks here so that you can afford to go to school so that you can get a degree with which then give you a better job and help you better afford to ski. Where is the line?

I guess what it comes down to is that I don't enjoy having to look through a list of 40 threads to find two useful ones. Also, no one has responded to my point that is pushes actual ski equipment threads off the page - posts that were the purported use of this forum. Lastly, if people think that looking at miscellaneous sales about things that, let's face it, rarely get purchased (what percentage of cameras are sold compared to that listed? quite low.) then please can we make a separate forum for it so those actually interested in ski gear and not just wasting time browsing random threads can find what they are looking for.
 
if people were smart they would use the searchbar if they are looking for a specific thing instead of looking through every thread
 
that doesnt make any sense .The thing about a sale is that things get sold therefore you can't buy that item anymore. The searchbar searches for anything that on the site. This is not a searchbar problem.
 
it is stupid when people make a thread selling only sunglasses, some t-shirts, and some LAX stuff. but if a sale contains ski gear, i dont see a problem

i say if you are selling ski gear and have other stuff for sale you can throw it in, and stuff like sunglasses and ipods good sales lets be serious who doesn't ski with an ipod or other form of music.
 
isnt this thread in fact clogging the buy/sell/trade? I see this thread is more about the site itself. How about site discussion? If somebody is really actually serious about buying some new gear off of NS and they are in need of it enough, they will flip through a few pages of threads to find what they need.

If the stuff you are selling be atleast indirectly related, its good.

Id see your point if someone came on here selling a costco box of mr. noodles or KD, along with some razor blades, but no one does.

quit being a lazy ass and search through shit if you are looking for something specific, or post your own WTB thread. ENOUGH SAID.
 
its a buying/selling/trading forum.... no where has it said its a ski gear buy/sell/trade...people can sell what ever they want
 
I feel like people should be able to sell whatever the hell they want on here, i mean if other people are having success and selling shit, there is obviously demand for stuff other than ski gear on this site, so why not try to sell something thats not ski related? If it sells, then somone obviously wanted it and you are justified in putting it on here in the first place.

Just let people do what they want to, if they want to take the time to make a thread selling their stupid shit, who are we to deny them that right?

ya whats the point of keeping this to just ski gear, ive bought so many other things on here other than ski stuff, and im enjoying them very much, its a lot easier to use than ebay and craigslist and what not so i dont see why not.
