You need a firewire cable, and hopefully you have a firewire port on your computer. You just connect the camera to the computer and your computer should recognize the camera. Then yo ucan just open whatever video editor you want and capture the footy.

to improve the quality of the video a new cord or using a mac over pc isnt gonna make a damn bit of difference except in speed. you need to use a different format for the video. try different formats when you are encoding it

Adobe Premiere does an awesome job uploading footage from a video camera. Get a firewire cable and you will be set.
