Ive started to get really into filming with friends. I'm planning on making my first edit a self edit. I made a quick clip for instagram and I just wanted to get some feedback on the filming/editing. I know that its tailored for an instagram video so it is obviously lacking things that a real edit would have/ including things a real edit wouldn't.

Anyways, all tips are welcome:

like maybe a slightly wider angled lens? idk but I find it sorta annoying when the skier goes a little bit out of frame/super close to the edges. Also would change the song but that's no biggie. Seems pretty dope altogether tho B-)

I thought it was a pretty good edit, every trick was well executed and looked solid. I know it's supposed to be short, for Instagram, but if it was my edit I would probably try to add a little more personality to it. By that I mean like a quick few seconds of you goofin around, dancing with ur buddies on the lift etc. Idn I guess that's just me but I usually like to see a little into the riders personality rather than just trick after trick. Again this is hard to do as it's supposed to be short, but just a suggestion. Great job! Also I personally kinda like the song.

Not bad, but did you stabilize this in post? The first shot looks like you used warp stabilizer or something to that effect. Throws me off a little bit.

i get that its for instagram and you have some time constraints on that platform, but when you make a longer edit i have a few things for you to consider:

- dont apply a lot of warp stabilizer/sony stabilize or whatever plugin you used. they are pretty "powerful" and create a kind of jello effect if you use too much

- perhaps have some sort of intro, maybe some b roll

- get closer so that the skier fills most of the frame

hopefully that helps

I think the only thing that bugged me was the warp stabilizer. I would rather watch a shaky video than see warp stabilizer, it just doesnt look good in my opinion. Good job other than that

You guys mentioned that the music didn't really fit. I felt That too. Do u think that it wasn't synced or just adding fit the ski style. Just wondering what makes music feel right?

Im not sure. I guess a lot of it comes down to peoples preference. For me I usually have music picked out before I even shoot footage for an edit. Ill just be listening to music and Ill find myself picturing an edit in my head. And thats kinda how I know itll fit
