Playstation 4

What the hell is even going to be different? Haven't they still only used like 25% of the ps3's actually power?

god dammit I just bought my 360 like a year ago and now this means Xbox is going to be unveiling a new console too. so much money in the hole...

all I ask is that the playstation 4 not cost a fucking ridiculous amount of money....because I will probably buy it either way..

wow i tune out for 5 minutes and i miss the ending. Did they ever actually show what it's going to look like?

I hope it doesn't make you download mad shit and do annoying stuff online like a smart phone because I am too lazy to use mine for the stuff it does, or is too much like Wii. Worried it'll be all about annoying stuff and apps and crap.

I have played some sick games int he last year, Dishonored, Far Cry, Hitman all were sick, I'd like to see games like that on better hardware in a year or two or a Modern Warfare on a new system.

yeah i've yet to see my ps3 work hard at anything, whereas the 360 is the loudest thing in the house, it's trying so fucking hard, it sounds like it's grinding coffee. same video games, totally different experience on each console. if the 720 sounds like a jet engine i'm not buying it, if the ps4 sounds like a jet engine i'm buying it regardless, because hell, that means they probably put a jet engine in it.

I guess im just over consoles and so it doesn't appeal to me as much, I just don't get what theyre gonna do different? 3d already exists, maybe motion detection like kinect? I mean maybe 4k output but thats like putting an hdmi on the super nintendo...

update hardware. have you seen what a decent gaming pc can do these days? ps3 and 360 don't have shit (except price), and a lot of people have been switching to PC (games are better, games are cheaper, online is better, hardware is better, everything is better). the consoles have to keep up or they lose business. they put out the ps3 while the ps2 was still fine and selling fine and games were still being made for it, and they're doing it again because the technology advances quicker than the consoles wear out.

I suppose you're right, I dabble with CS on my editing computer (which is just as good, if not better than most nerdy gaming computers lol) and I havent even tried a graphics heavy game on it since im not really a gammer but ya I know what you're saying. I prefer shooter games on PC anyday now but games like skate or maybe a future ski game id like to have a console but Im also kind of over that shit ha

this. i honestly cant see how much farther they are going to take video games. consoles can run faster/smoother/be more powerful (ps3 is another story, i had a prof doing research on the computing power/capabilities of the processing of the ps3, and lets not forget about that campaign that was going on when the ps3 first came out to download a game/app that you turned on when you werent playing anything to aid in multi-machine processing for some university/research center or something like that)

moores law only applies to computing power, and the greatest limitation we have to the progression of technology, and in this case, videogames is the screen/visual aspects.

this new step into multi-screen gaming seems like a step in the right direction, but even then, its been done before. anyone remember final fantasy crystal chronicles for gamecube? if you had one of those gba-gc cables you could use your gba as a map/controller. unless theyre doing something revolutionary/game changing (something that we will absolutely not be able to live without) with multi screen videogame applications, i doubt its going to be something that interesting/different from the current ps3

The PS4 specs are actually really arent that good.

Anyone that knows about computers will tell you an i5 will rape an FX8 core (thats what Im assuming the cpu will be based off've) especially if its clock 40%ish under the 8120.

Graphics wise the HD7850 (what the PS4 is rumored to perform similarly too) is old. Not bad but not that great either.

Now before I hear "OmG U r JuSt An EkzBoQ fAn BoI oMg" I've read the 720s specs will be worse.

But, I guess it is just a console. Not designed for maxing games.

Well, idk about you but I have never heardmy 360 slim while playing it. Also, the PS3 runs alot of 3rd party games like dog shit. Mass Effect 3's frame rate was almost always far below what it is on 360. Only time it ran smooth was during conversations. PS3 is an awesome system to play 1st Party games like Uncharted, etc... But every port I've seen sucked as. Lets hope that doesn't carry over...

Just bought an xbox for 50 bucks, when it breaks ill probably be done with video games. Nothing is new or surprising anymore.

But you also have to consider a max'd out gaming computer is 1500+ if you're hard core, 800-1000 if you cheap out with a 3590k and an older, but good graphics card, etc.

But with ps and xbox they are building a gaming unit for a market that doesn't care about that shit, sure there are hard core xbox/ps gamers but be real, they take up maybe 10% if not less of the actually target market for ps/xbox. gammers that want power and want to actually game (sorry if i hurt anyones feelings, but playing games on a console is not real gamming) you buy a PC and you fucking game.

ps/xbox want to make money but what they've done is always had "low specs" because they could and its way cheaper and then when they release a new console, they can keep the specs "low" but they're drastically improved from the previous model. Its a genius money making model. I'm not sure what games will come out on ps4 or xbox 720 that wont be able to be played on the ps3/360 unless they just bump up the graphics? I dunno, i dont understand much about consoles vs computers just seems silly people will buy the ps4 but for what exact reason?

anyways, if you wanna be a real gammer, get a pc lol

when you think about it, there isn't much of a difference from the og ps to the ps3 (i own a ps, ps2, and ps3). the graphics got better and online is included, but a PS game feels pretty much the same as a PS3 game, i mean my dualshock controller has hardly changed at all since the first iteration because the games haven't changed either, you could practically play a ps3 game with an OG dualshock, you'd just be missing two buttons.

on a side note, motion controls and touchscreens are lame as fuck, there is no need for either and they are both tech that was deemed stupid 20 years ago, but it's back due to the growing stupidity of consumers. VR is the only thing i'm interested in seeing pursued when it comes to new interfaces, i want to see some Sword Art Online on the shelves soon.

I agree.

If you want real gaming hop on Source or any other platform.

Going from Console to PC is a huge step, but it is well worth it.

Also people will get the PS4 simply to say, "Yeah bro preordered the PS4" So dope bro

exclusives, trophies, everyone else i know is going to get it whereas i only have one friend i can game with on PC (and we both game on ps3 as well because a lot of games that come out for consoles don't come out for PC. you can say all you want about "real gaming" or whatever but there isn't a single one of us here who was "hardcore" enough to beat Donkey Kong or Pac-Man. I've always been a PC gamer (first game was Doom when i was like 5 years old) but that doesn't mean i disqualify consoles or arcades or anything, i'm a gamer gamer and i play games for the fun, not the graphics. Borderlands 2 on PC is fucking amazing but i popped Doom 3 in a couple months ago and that was too. Super Mario Bros is timeless. Pokemon games on GameBoy were fucking sweet (probably still are, but they stopped making gameboys so nintendo can go fuck themselves, what the hell does ds stand for, i don't care, it's lame). anyways, if you limit yourself to one platform you're missing the fuck out, if i said "fuck xbox" i'd miss out on most of the Halo games, if i said "fuck playstation" i'd miss out on Uncharted, Gran Turismo, etc. there's no point in being "hardcore" or a "real gamer" unless you're korean and can win some money playing RTS', seriously.

Those people are idiots. The PS3 will still be around for a year or so, by the time it is obsolete, the price will drop on the PS4, and games will be running better anyway. Also, PC will always perform better, but some people just don't enjoy it. Certain games are legit, but I'll always take a console version of a game over the PC version.

Because it takes less skill to complete that game on console.

Please play me in CS Source.

Or even COD 4 on PC

I can turn around and go PS3 aswell.

I have had the original fatboy ps3 since the day it was released, I have always found myself loving console, Until I went to my Uncles and sat down in front of a quad linked moniter sweep on an alienware with 2 Terabytes of storage. (Not External) and 64 Gigs of RAM, and played Source, COD 4. Half Life, and Diablo III. PS3 online is just too fucking easy. The feel of PC is just so much easier, so much better.

Cant run emulators on a ps3 anymore without the new bullshit firmware downgrade and old homebrew channel. And you sure as hell cant mod the games and online like you can on PC.

oh definitely. that used to be an acceptable trend for console development, better graphics, better graphics, better graphics. this is mostly due to the increase in processing power (moores law) and we are getting to the point where the performance aspects are beginning to peak and reach their limits in terms of hardware, and we are left with graphics that can only be improved so much more, which will more than likely have to come from the game development and software aspects.

i agree, motion control/touchscreen is not groundbreaking or progressive, not to mention, people dont play videogames because they want to be active. i play videogames because i want/need a break from moving around, i want to sit around and relax, not swing my arms around trying to play wii tennis.... have you watched someone who plays wii games/is good at something like wii tennis? their arm movements are almost non existent, sharp, quick wrist movements is all that is going on, completely defeating the purpose of the motion controller altogether.

i am personally completely happy with my ps3. i am almost pissed that the ps4 is coming out, unless there is groundbreaking multiscreen technology that is going to be a complete game changer, making me look back to the past in disbelief that i once played videogames without my iphone/tv/ps4 i will not personally be investing in a ps3 until the stop supporting it altogether.

He literally dumped like 1250$ into this fucking thing and all it does is sit at house. He doesn't even use it anymore. I told him he only needs one monitor, he said it was necessary for him to be able to see everything because of his "bad vision"

You know how guys with little dicks love SRH, Lifted GMC's & Limp Bizkit?

Well his little dick syndrome causes him to buy outrageous electronics haha.

Im just jelly.

And sorry, 1TB*

You're jelly but a noob, 1250 into a gaming computer is weak Haha people spend 2500-3000 on some gaming setups.

Also internal storage means nothing you can put 10tb into a computer if you wanted it doesn't matter at all haha

ok, what exactly are you trying to say? that and every game you listed is an FPS, there is no skill required when you only have to push 6 buttons (not that i don't love Half-Life, but i beat it when i was 7 years old (my parents got mad at it because it gave me nightmares)), everyone and their grandma "wrecks" at COD or CS because they were built that way, i don't usually play either (i find them boring) but every six months or so i'm forced to play one of them and i always come out of it thinking "if i wanted to play a one-click per kill game i'd rather play Delta Force 2" and then remember that the games most people aren't good at never last.

Ya well in 2013 shits way cheaper Haha you can setup a decent i7 8gb ram decent graphics card and ssd boot drive for like $800

He paid a certain portion towards the computer in shit he wanted to do himself, Because of his job the employer he is under is required to build him whatever he wants in order to get the job done. So he gets to use a 5000$ computer, but only has to pay 1000-1500 dollars ( Basically to take the computer home with him once hes done working).

But as for the whole console vs PC shitshow... I like both. Each has there advantages and disadvantages like anything else.

And to K-Robs half life story, lolol. Even if you were 7 ,I know it isnt hard but Its still fun :) Same with TF2 cmon you know it!

this is the biggest bs i have ever read, you don't hack and game on the same rig, especially if your rig is a fucking alienware hahaha

@Lolocaust. Thats not the reason, but you have a solid point about everything else. And I agree with it for sure. Consoles do alot less, and may not be as hardcore. But I still like playing God of War, or Skate, etc more than most PC games. But, Diablo is dope. And everybody knows Valve games are the shit, and are always way better on PC.
