Playing football in college?

hey guys, i was wondering if any of you guys play(ed) football in college, or if you know anyone who has? Im looking at playing D3 ball next year (small schools, not like UW and michigan) and i was wondering what your experiences were. was it manageable? do you feel like you missed out on the "college experience"?

i know some guys from my hs playing d3... it seems like a joke b/c you cant get a scholarship to go and you have a slim chance of nfl(but i dont know how good you are) do what you want and have fun with it... i play football but i dont think id play d3 id ski haha

I know a few guys playing d3 football and they seem to like it alright. I think you should at least try it and see how you like it. If you're good enough there are sometimes chances to transfer to better and bigger programs, I know that happens in college basketball fairly often.

oh no, i dont want to go the the NFL or to a bigger program at all. i just want to play because i love football. and i guess thats enough to make me want to play.

I was wanting to do the same thing for a bit, but then decided that skiing is safer and will probably allow me to walk later on in life a little easier than football.

If you love football I say go for it. Whats the worst that can happen? You go out and find out its not as fun or you don't like playing where you are/with the guys on the team and you quit. I think its definitely worth trying and if you don't like it then quit and go ski.

I play for the university (also in Canada) and rugby not football, but i feel it really increased my university experience, not the other way around. I made a huge network of friends through the team, and can always find someone to chill with in the halls...plus there are fringe benifits to playing high level sports....girls not so much with rugby here, but maybe with football, but things like VIP's to clubs, more understanding professors for extensions, absences due to away games etc.

My buddy plays for Ohio State, and he works his ass off, but im sure a smaller school wouldnt be soo bad. He seems to still get to enjoy the college life a bit though.
