Playful All Mt. Ski

Hey guys. I'm in the market for some new sticks and I am looking for a playful all mountain ski. What I have been eyeing is the Nordica Soul Rider but I am open to other suggestions to replace my old chronics.

Here is a little but about my skiing style: I am 5'8" 150 lbs, I don't really ride park that much any more so I'd say I do 10% park 90% all mountain. I like to ski hard down groomers so I am really looking for a ski that's lively and can hold a great edge but is still soft enough to be fun. Looking in the mid 90 length range and I will mostly be using these on the east coast.

K+ for suggestions

I'd go for some on3p Kartel 98s or Kartel 106s, they look like sick skis for what you are looking for, I've never personally rode a pair but if I lived in the Midwest/west I would definitely have a pair, on3ps durability is second to none, never heard a bad thing about them

I already have a 108 width ski, so I am definitely looking for something in the 90s range but K+ for suggestions.

where do you ski?

honestly I and a lot of other people use and would use a 108 waist ski as an all mtn ski.

East coast. Killington is usually my go to in VT. I guess I am looking for something that's a little more hard charging when it's mostly hardpack. My 108's are solid for softer snow and even around the whole mountain but I definitely want something I can push hard.

What about Armada ARVti's? Those do seem like they are fairly head charging skis.

yeah I would get somethin in like the low/mid 90s

I'm an ON3P fan so maybe Magnus?

And yeah arvti could be good too.

I guess a good question would be: For what you are describing as the skiing you do/want to do, how did your chronics work for you? From there on it'll be easier to recommend. But if you basically liked the Chronics, I've been riding the K2 Poacher (96mm) and think they could be a good, slightly more beefy/solid replacement.

Gotta remember you're on the east coast...108's make a solid pow/crud ski. But look for something 90's-100max.

I've said it before and i'll say it again...surface park blanks such a good ski though the base is a little slow since its extruded and such a value buy if you like a full camber ski.

I recently purchased Blizzard regulators which seem like they are going to be like such a solid all mtn east coast ski super stoked on them. So light but super well built and pretty stiff as well. Haven't rode them yet but have rode other blizzard's and they make such a quality product.

Regulators are 94 in the waste with slight camber in the tip / tail but they seem pretty cambered still. Got them for $350 from backcountry.com

The chronics were fine but they are now 4 years old and don't quite perform as well as they used too. I am just not riding park as much as I used to. Not that I wont lap the park a few times but what I'm really looking for is something that can hold a good edge but still fun enough to pop a 3 off a side hit.

Essentially you have a playfulness vs stability/chargability tradeoff to make. If popping some 3s off side hits is all you do, you can probably make that happen on most skis and full (or nearly full) camber, stiff skis with flatter tails would probably be the best option. If you want to butter and slash turns etc then you start to move in the more playful direction.

I ski at Killington as well, and i see a lot of hard chargers with either the rossi soul 7s or the nordica enforcers. Your best bet would probably be to look for a fully cambered park ski. My Line Assassins from 05 work fine for park and charging on groomers. Hope i could help
