Plans for my urban dropin

So I've got a group of guys wanting to hit up some urban and a friend of mine builds custom furniture for a living. Check out the plans he's drawn up for me - looking at 6ft tall (platform will sit a little lower), folding design with removable braces. So stoked on this. He says it's going to be solid and when he says that I trust him - he built his own bed 6ft off the floor with a desk underneath and it's the shit. He's moving into his new workshop next week and this is his first project. I'll post progress photos when I check in with him.

make sure the slope is right so there is little impact at the transition. i cant really tell if there is a platform at the top, but make sure there is one and it has good area to put on your skis. if you look closly at the drawing you sortof can see a platform with some sort of triangular raileing. that design looks good overall. just as you build make sure it just looks right.

Yeah the top platform is going to be 2ft by 2.5ft. It could be bigger but then it would have to be lower. I think that will be plenty big to get skis on. Snowboarders might have more of an issue with it but they can just deal with that.

It's going to be around a 45 degree down ramp. That seems pretty steep to me but that looks like what they use in movies. If the transition is to sharp then we can get some sort of extention built.

What about some sort of wooden wedge kicker for onto rails? Just to cut down on setup time, just cover it in a layer of snow instead of building a wedge out of snow. Or do you not need much kick on a stairset handrail?

i use a 2x3 piece of 3/4'' playwood nailed onto a piece of fire wood

its held up 2 years and its sick

There is a platform at the top (look at the small drawing at the very top). It'll be about 2ft by 2.5ft. He's got the supplies now and should be building, I'm going to check in with him this week.

Well, here it is. My buddy just sent me a photo from his workshop. Just a few coats of laquer and she's good to go. Stoked.

The droping is totally finished now and laquered for weather resistance. Not had a chance to use it yet because I was in hospital and had some recovery after that but I've stood on it and it's so solid it's ridiculous. I think we built it too wide though but that just meakes it heavier to carry, not a big deal. I got a roof rack on my car now and got some radio slaves for my flashes so we're good to go. I'll post shots.

For various reasons we didn't really use it all winter except when some guys I know borrowed it to use for a college rail jam but they put a sheet of plywood down the inrun for that. We tried to set up for a DFD last night but the cops shut us down just as we were about to lay down the snow. Need to find rails in less public areas.
