Planet of the apes or the matrix?

I'm debating which will happen first: monkeys & the like rivaling our intelligence or computers using humans as power. it has replaced my debate over who would win in a battle between yoda and dumbledore. opinions on both would help put my mind to ease

these are the answers i am leaning toward. need some evidence though. thanks pomlkab now i can spend all night reading that

Well yoda is basically a wizard except he doesn't need a wand, he's like ninja quick and has a badass lightsaber, so in a battle he could hold his own against dumbledore's spells and then chop his wand in half, then dumbledore would be straight fucked.

And it just seems like since we evolved from apes they wouldn't evolve into anything else. Computers are still constantly advancing and we can't really say what they'll be like in the future, so it just seems more likely them taking over than apes.

but he's dumbledore he would never use that, and even if he did yoda could jump out of the way or absorb it with his light saber or some force shit

right Yoda has the force+lightsaber, but dumbledore has the power to summon whatever whenever and make anything happen. but Yoda can manipulate his surroundings using the force, including the magic dumbledore uses?

good point on the apes.

+dumbledore and yoda are the non-violent, peaceful leaders of their respective worlds, so they would reach an agreement without fighting. but it would be sweet if they fought

they'd probably spark one and philosophize, and intertwine magic and the force for stoney entertainment.

also matrix will happen first. we have AC 130s, apes dont stand a chance.

The likelihood of another species of hominidae, rivaling our intelligence anytime soon, I'd say is slim. Evolutionary changes typically take place over very long periods of time. While short bursts of mutations are possible, we humans would probably have a pretty firm grasp as the dominate ape species.

The matrix scenario, while wild, I would guess is far more likely. Our computing power continues to grow at a pace that would almost undoubtedly reach that point before another species could ever compete with us. I read in a time article that we could be in a "computers building computers" scenario in less than 50 years. Do I believe this? I'm skeptical....

But if I was in a casino and told I HAD to bet on the two... I'd definitely put my money on the matrix scenario first. Although I don't know it would be as grim as the Matrix... And obviously I'm assuming a far more practical version of each story. Super computers / robots likely wouldn't use us for "batteries" because we would need to be fed... Which would require enormous amounts of food and just be more inefficient than just killing us in the first place.

All of the is speculative... I didn't even cite anything so don't take this post too seriously :) Train your brain to be skeptical :)

they only took over cause a plague wiped out mankind and they were just chillin in the woods till all the humans died. if it actually came down to a fight the military would be having an ape bbq in a couple of hours.

Neither will happen.

Nothing can rise to challenge the humans. We have too many people/resources at our disposal

The matrix is possible, but way too unreasonable. Humans do nothing but waste, I doubt that even a computer could come up with a way to "harvest" humans for energy. There just so many different, better ways to get energy.

Computers will eventually take over, I can almost guarantee it. It could be anywhere from total annihilation to something more along the lines of Futurama. If we are able to build something that is smarter than us, then it builds something thats smarter than itself...

wait wait wait, if humans are being bred into little goo pods to provide energy to the machines, what's happening to all the apes? wouldn't they produce just as much energy as a person? biologically, they aren't that different.

does that mean the apes are going to be harvested next, and then we'll have an ape neo who is rescued by an ape team that lives in the real world who will become the one in the MATRIX OF THE APES?!

my money is on us progressively getting more and more out of shape until we lose all muscle mass and exist simply as brains in jars with a pair of eyes and fingers. what else do we need, really. that's all people do even now - online dating, online entertainment, online schooling, online communication, online work - just imagine when we get even more technologically advanced.

as soon as physical labor ceases to exist and man power is irrelevant, we're going to become exactly that.
