Planet of the Apes, about to be real??

no real evolution or adaption is going on in zoos. its just one gorilla who decided hey look i have a good sense of balance, maybe my food wont get crushed if i do this.

i doubt other gorillas are going to, and sure this shows hes thinking, but havent gorillas always been considered smart problem-solving animals?
 
I watched another video on it and the reporter said that his grandfather, father, and two sisters also can/could do it. Although not quite as well as him.
 
maybe it is a skill passed down through the generations.

I disagree. You can't automatically dismiss this as not being evolution just because its in a zoo. He is adapting to not crush his food.
 
Yes you can. Evolution is something that happens to a species over many generations as a result of genetic mutations. What you are talking about has nothing to do with evolution
 
True, but the species had to find a purpose for what they were doing. It's not like one day an ape decided to stand up for no reason. It's not like a fish decided to just come out of the water for no reason at all. I'm not dismissing what you're saying completely, but I'm leaving a possibility for the alternative.
