a plane crashed in Butte Montana today it was 17 kids going on a ski trip to big sky from california and they all died. so sad
anyone hear anything else about it?

Wow, that's such a blunt way to put, i sort of laughed at the bluntness. But that's terrible, they want to go skiing and they die.

Whats with all the plane crashes recently?

I'd like to avoid planes at all costs these days... especially the commuter planes.
Some guy who remained anonymous, but worked for a airline said that they didn't have the money to repair problems and retire planes as often as they should and for that reason he won't fly on his own airline.
Scarrryyyyy.

It doesn't say 17 kids died, it says several children were involved.

Still really sad, crashed in a cemetery too. Kinda creepy. =(

No worries, news reports change as they get more information.

And I was wrong, it was outside the cemetery. Still creepy.

fuck me I was on two planes today....
and last time I flew was the day that plane crash landed in the Hudson River
scary shit right there

first off, RIP to those who died.

Granted flying is and never has been a big deal to me (my dad is a airline pilot) i wouldnt be worried, and IMO the fear of flying with the rational "i could die" is just silly. if you're going to freak out over flying than you sure as hell better not get behind the steering wheel of a car. my uncle is like this and IMO again its just super blown out of proportion.

where did you read this about the owner of an airline, ide like to read it. (not calling you a liar ide just enjoy reading it)

In the cemetary, the news just showed a picture of the fireball...

RIP to everyone who died, this is horrible news.

Compared to the amount of car crashes a year, plane crashes are nothing.
Ill quote some top proffers and such here-
" if you fly domestically in the industrialized world (say, Europe), your chances of dying are one in 50 million."
"It's worth noting that in the United States, your risk of dying of your next flight is: One in 60 million. In other words, you could fly every day for the next 164,000 years on average before you would perish in a crash."
"Sure, no one can say that you won't crash, but no one can also say that you will not get hit by a car next time you cross the street either. "
I think looking at what those three different proffesers of aviation said, your chances are pretty slim on dieing in a plane crash, dont be scared, pilots are trained for years before they are allowed to drive a plane, drivers of cars only afew months.

Sorry, but not very accurately put.

Airlines MUST adhere to a standard of maintenance. Yes, there are always "Snags" after a flight (snag is basically a problem but is usually bullshit...i.e. pilot says "I heard a noise coming from the back) but all airlines in the U.S. & Canada must do their maintenance at a certain number of hours, or they will be shut down very quickly.

What they ARE doing which is a bit scary, is that they are now bringing the planes where labour is cheaper to have larger inspections/maintenance done. Singapore, has been a hot spot for Air Canada. They fly their planes over there with a few approved mechanics to sign for the work, while these uncertified airplane mechanics do practically everything.

Anyways, planes have always gone down, just word gets around a little quicker now. Nothing to worry abou.t

I didn't put it any way... accurate or not.... this is coming from a guy who was interviewed so pick a fight with him.
And unfortunately I don't have a link or anything to it : ( sorryyy it was on the news a little while ago.

lol, No hate to you, I understand you were just re-saying what the guy sitting in a dark spot with some genre of voice fucker uper said on t.v =)

I asked a pilot about all this tonight...he said that it's not so bad as of now, but statistically speaking, in 2015 plane traffic will be up so much that there should be an accident every week...statistically.

This site is pretty cool to see how many planes are in the air at any given time...right now there are 1297 airborne. http://flightaware.com/live/

The pilot also said that there are several cargo planes that go down, but nobody ever hears about those... Fedex and Purolator are good at covering up.

there was a cargo plane in tokyo that exploded while trying to land it was like 2 hrs after this crash the pictures are crazy...that is insane how many planes are in the air.

im glad i decided not to follow my family legacy and become a fighter pilot...

or a pilot in general... so sad are all the crashes these days... first the plane in buffalo, then the tokyo crash, and this... terrible.

we just booked our flights back from australia on the "skybus". Bigger than a 747, luxurious...and basically the titanic of the sky.

Shit.

overloading didnt do it. there were too many people but half of them were small children. they are looking at ice on the wing again

well the main problem with statistics is that they dont mean anything for every single flight. of course your chances of getting killed in a airplane crash are smaller than winning a few lotteries in your life, celebrating that on a beach and getting killed by a lightning strike right in the moment a great white rips your head off.

what is shocking us that much in airplane crashes (since more people died last weeks on the worlds roads) is, i guess, this feeling of helplessness. the pilot says: "i regret that i have to inform, bla bla". everyone is screaming and you cant do anything. you can just sit and wait. horrible imagination

of course he will try, but i would say that at some point he knows that he cant do anything to avoid the crash, i am not sure if he would say something or if i would, both things are kinda harsh, dying without seeing it coming or knowing exactly that is over now
