Some mountains always try to open first some mountains ooen when they open regardless of early snow. I woukd say abasin because thtmats their thing. Hell even killington could be on the list if they still tey and open in October.

For most places opening day and closing day is planned. Opening day stays prettty consistent unless crazy wild snow then maybe they open early. Usually opening day only changes if delayed.

Closing day places close early if its fucked or stay open a little longer if its deep.

Sure there's a slight race to open but places like abay will always be near the top.
 
I ski Alta and it would be sick to open early but it’s gonna get warm next week so it’s gonna fuck up the snow. This happened last year too and last year was fucked

It's so small that it's always forgotten. I only made it over twice when we lived in Durango but grew up skiing it. Such an underrated place.
