Pivot Bindings Or Nah??

What do you mean "normal park bindings". Pivots are great for park, as long as they hold you to your skis and eject when they are supposed to.

I had pivots on all my skis, they are god tier. I recently switched to STH just because they are lighter and they also are great.

Pivots literally have 0 cons, only ones I could maybe think of are you always have to move the binding with your hand to step in, or that you have to step on them to eject, too much work to use a pole.

^ true mine are beat to shit cosmetically from stepping on them but they are really good bindings if you somehow haven't already heard through this site

Pivots are pretty much all hype in my opinion. Bindings from any reputable company will ski pretty similarly.

Pivots/fks bindings are by far the best. Only binding to have 4 points of contact on the toe piece and 25mm of travel in the heel piece before you pop out. I have Pivots on my blends and I will never stray from them or the FKS

This is not true. Try using some Marker squires to some Marker Jesters. Huge difference right there. Now try comparing those jesters to STH's or Pivots. Every binding feels different if you have enough skiing under your belt. I can feel the difference between my fks 180 and 140s since they are on the same exact model ski and while there is minimal difference, I can definitely notice it. I will say that every binding from a reputable company will be good if you get their high-end models. Its all about preference when you get past the 12 din bindings.

The pros to fks/pivot bindings is the elasticity in the heel piece I am not going to deny that by any means. However, they are a bit heavier than a sth, griffon or attack. Their brakes are prone to breaking, a pain in the ass to get new ones and are not exactly the easiest thing to replace but the rest of the binding is very durable. Realistically you should be fine in any of those bindings as you have to be a large aggressive skier to break a 13 din binding (not to say it's impossible). Also there is a stickied thread about asking binding questions that I would recommend reading before you make your decision.

Pivots are great but a little on the heavy side and slightly overhyped. Their main selling point like mentioned above is the amount of elastic heel travel. I personally prefer tyrolia attacks, super low stack height, lightweight, and very durable.

Sorry should have been more specific. Most bindings in the same price and/or din range will ski similarly, not the same. Choose pivots because you like them and not because of the hype.

Not true.

Pivots have brakes that will bend if you ride park and if you break them it will cost you $75 for a new brake, and the brakes are a pain in the ass to replace.

They also lack adjustment compared to other newer bindings so if you change boot sizes then there is a good chance you'll have to remount them. Getting the forward pressure correct on Pivots is not nearly as easy as it is on other bindings.

The pivoting heel can be really annoying sometimes especially in powder.

Im very aggressive with my pivots and have never had a brake related problem ever.

I was also able to move them back a size and up a size without remounting.

Thenn send them in for the warranty

So then you have to take off your heel piece and not be able to use those skis until they get back from Rossi? Nah, I'll pass

Go to your shop and get some have some extras on hand or take some off skis you don't use.

You think shops are just gonna have extra heel pieces lying around that they'll lend out? Or that I would have a extra set of pivots that I can swap around. Regardless too, fixing a brake involves removing the entire heel piece, even if I did have extra parts I wouldn't want to be remounting my heels all the time

to be fair, my shop gives me heel pieces/brakes for cost (i think it's around 30).

But yeah the remounting is an issue. The only real way around it is quiver killers

The one time i broke mine i just got one from my local shop and I'm saying if you have some on thrasher skis swap em and it takes 5 minutes to switch em out

Pivot bindings are amazing, worth the money, and you can feel the difference controlling the ski with pivots vs a regular ski

While I am a pivots fan, I just bought a pair of these bad larrys and I have to say, I am excited to try them out

They have alot more metal than the 16 version and I keep breaking my pivot heelpieces so I decided it was time to invest when I saw the deal they had them on.

Update: I'm never going to buy pivots again if I have the choice of these. I'm amazed at how much I like those bindings

Nice, but which version are these if they're not the 16's?

For pivots I gotta say nah... Sure they ski great, but with my last pair of 14's the breaks broke within a week, making the heel piece almost useless and a hassle to fix. I don't think its worth it if you compare them to other quality bindings.

They're attack 18x's, I'm pretty sure they're like 520 bucks or something like that though, although you could probably get em for 400 now with the end of season sales and stuff

I got them for 280 and I saw it as an investment instead of a regular purchase

only cons for me with the pivots/fks is hiking with them sucks (depending on snow conditions), the brakes are a huge hassle if they break, and when you eject having to push the heelpiece down with your hand. everything else about them i love and i feel like i have a cleaner release than my griffons and z10s.
