Pitch correction ruined music

basically pitch correction software destroyed music as far as im concerned. its getting out of control... its overused and everythings starting to sound the same. and without it we wouldnt have to put up with hillary duff or avril aligne or simple plan or any of the rest of these useless, untalented people. oh, and it ruined the new weezer cd.

 
if u find a band thats actually good it will, just harder to find them.

inform me on what exactly this pitch correction does, besides the obvious?

I hope that some day we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people

alexisonfire is amazing live, same with afi. sound almost identical to thier recorded selves

You know that a band is good when they sound better live then the studio versions. A great example of this would be bands like Tower of Power.

its funny how most local bands...up here in ak at least...are good live. local bands that perform a lot tend to be the ones that are good live

 
See you only have to worry about the negative effects of pitch correction, when you listen to shitty pop. If you listen to stuff that isn't mainstream or forced upon you by the major media, then you have very little fear of pitch correction. In fact I appreciate it, maybe it will make people realize that 2 bit hacks like Britney Spears aren't worth shit to music.

only crap songs are pitch corrected, all of those mtv groups are CREATED by companies that look for $. from britney spears(made for "i wish i was pretty" teens) to linkin park (made for "i want to be bad" teens) it doesnt bother me as far as i keep away from pop and commercial music

 
my real point was that it runied weezer... and had it not come to be we would never have to had to put up with britney spears etc in the first place

 
I think it ruined my career... I was really getting into singing with a rough, rugged voice, but I could also go high like Serj, but when my album came out, I sounded like Nick Carter from the Backdoor Boys.

Then I filed for bankcrupcy, and I will always live in the ghetto. The mad ghetto. Not a day goes by without someone doing a Supersoaker 2000 driveby.

when i went to see tool live. they sounded fucken great. it didnt sound live at all

none tte less, i still liked green and maladroit but this new shits awful... some of the songs are catchy.... but they still suck. they Killers-ed themselves.

 
Britney actually sang one time on SNL and it was the saddest thing I've ever seen. I was embarassed for HER. Seriously, it was pathetic.

just saw talib kweli live last night. you could definately tell it was live because the pacing was a little different than the recorded stuff, but it was amazing none the less. he had a dj spinning his music for him too, so he could really mix things up, got into a little freestyling a few times too. definately check him out if you are into rap/hip hop and never heard of him.

 
i take it back... its not the software... music in general just sucks now. new goldfinger? not up to par. new system of a down? not up to par. new sweatshop union... borderline.

no you couldnt. thats fucking retarded. all the pitch correction shit just makes everyone sound the same. it makes useless people seem talented, it makes good music sound like pop and its an easy excuse to make a shitty album. but mostly, it makes everyone sound like Hansen... but worse, much much worse. its easy to hear and it sounds like shit.... or it makes shitty music sound not like shit... so its like a big shit pie you dont know youre eating. bah

 
I think Alice n Chains were one of the few bands that sounded as good if not better live than they did in the studio

Well, after reading about this thread. I got so excited that I figure I would try out a trial version of a pitch controller.

I may not be using the software 100%, but I can tell you that I definatly don't sound like Justin Timberlake.
