Pipe Cleaners In The Park

So heres the deal. I know pc's are not meant for rails due to the soft base etc, but heres my story. I live on the east coast and currently ride invaders, but they are beyond delammed and I just shattered my tail and ripped the edge out. I need new skis and reallllly want the pipe cleaners. I love everything I've read about them. I ski primarily park though lots of jumps and rails. I hit pipe occasionally but I'm no pipe rat. I found an amazing deal on PC's. Should I spring for em, knowing that they'll take some hits but keep on chugging?

I agree. If you primarily hit rails and jumps then don't get PCs. There are skis more suited for your style that are most likely equally cheap.

they aren't that fast kid.

and why would he over shoot jumps?

if he feels he is going to fast he can always slow down

the PC's are exactly the same as the AR6 except for a couple of more racing features, just read carefully what's on the Armada's website or even send an email to them.

Have fun !

i have these skis and i DO SKI THEM IN THE PARK AND ON RAILSSSSSSSSS!! AHHHHHH the skis hold up great. by far my favorite ski i have ever owned. dont let anyone discourage you if you want to ride em hard do it! you will be happy

i have them and i hit park pipe and rails they hold up perfectly....only advice is dont go backcountry messed my base up a lil....but they go nice and fast and rails dont do anything to em unless you take them urban(and fall on stairs)....... but so nice on jumps

ive had pipe cleaners all season, up until last weekend when i pulled the heel of my p18 out of em, which is a bummer.

theyre a good ski, and the race base is definitely noticeable, much faster than the lower grade extruded bases people are putting on the lower end skis. wax them on the regular and youll be super happy with the results.

the whole edge argument is kinda a crock. they have almost the same edge thickness as the ar6, no one can tell you otherwise if you look at the skis side by side. they may be a different material, but i have been hitting rails on them all year and see nothing beyond normal impact damage to em. a few cracks that may not have been there had they been an ar6, but nothing serious, and the cracks dont go all the way through, except for one.

as far as them being a stiff ski, too stiff for park, once again, bullocks. id personally like them to be a little stiffer, because compared my my scratch bc's (best ski i have ever had), theyre not super stable at speed, even taking into consideration the smaller platform. even mounted at suggested, theyre a bit squrrelly at high speeds. grated i used to race, so probably ski them harder on groomers than others might.

its a good all around ski, great for park, great switch, and as long as youre not using it as a primary rail ski, you should be ok in that department as well. everyone needs to stop saying that theyre a bad ski for park and actually spend some time on a pair.

not like im buying em as a jib ski, just gonna be my all around allmtn, park, rails, jumps, pipe ski

when jp auclair was at snowparknz in october he used his PCs all over the place: pipe, jumps and rails.

yea your right. This is straight from the armada website "The Pipe Cleaner closely resembles the general make up of the AR6."

a kid at big white got pipecleaners today and tore his leg open so bad on them.he fell spinning a jump and the ski rubbed pretty hard against his leg and shredded through his snowpants and cut a huge gash in his leg.not a small gash either prolly 2.5inches lonmg and about .5cm deep.it was gnarlky. them edges are sharp as hell and id detune them a bit if you plan on trying stuff and falling

good because the pipecleaner is obviously a backcountry ski

and if your still wondering if SPK's are good on rails.. think again

some kid at my mountain rides them in the park, i dont think he knows why they are called PIPE cleaners, not PARK cleaners

i think the point is that he prefers them over ar6s and t halls in the park and on rails, not that he doesn't have to worry about fucking them up.
