Pink Duct Tape

A few comments on the recent happenings:

1. Whoever is actually vandalizing the signs via spray paint or actually chopping them down, you are ridiculous. I think it is great that you have an opinion about this, but there are better ways to express your opinion.

The pink duct tape idea is great, because it is non-violent, it is not illegal (in fact, it is the kind of free speech protected in the bill of rights) and it is really catching on because of its colorfulness.

2. Conceptkid, there are obviously a lot of kids on this site who have the opinion that some of the things foley is doing aren't right (i, myself, proudly stuck a "big mountain forever" pink duct tape on the back of my jeep). why don't you respect that opinion, and not get mad at us. why do you say that money talks, pink duct tape doesn't? should we not express our opinions at all?

i think this is a great thing, because it brought the local skiers together, but let's not ruin our reputation by vandalizing stuff, that is just stupid.

My name is revolution

I linger in these streets

I wait inside these bursting chests

Pump next to these heartbeats

Much like oxygen that’s flowing in

This duststorm will not cease

Converted and reverted back

In revolution it’s released

In the sign that has gone missing

Or the ducttape on a car

This manifest has grown fast

And yet could still go far

While American as old fat men

Revolution is reviled

But for those who do not heed the warning

Forced change will be their child

And if you think you feel it too

If you have just this wish

Bring the locals back

Get the tourists sacked

And ex-foley-ate the fish

^Dave that is some super sick poetry you've got goin' on there, are you gonna send that into the papers or somethin? That's awesome man.

OK.

Since we last talked, I have seen two articles in the paper, both talking about new groomers and increased snowmaking in the park, as well as a dedicated park groomer. Additionally, ski school is supposed to be down at the Outpost this year, and no longer on Chair 3.

Looks very promising.

yeah i think things are looking better than i originally thought, though there is still the issue of the name change, and opening and closing dates.... and we have been promised better park/pipe or open by certain dates..... but i guess we'll have to hope for the best and hope that we were wrong about foley.

I'm proud to be an amrican motherfucker. Why don't you go somewhere else if you ahve a problem with this country. The problem with this country is the people like you. That have no sense of responsibility for themselves. As for the resort.... mite as well spread tape and feel like your doing something I guess it sucks watching your mountain go down the whole..

For one, I addressed this earlier.

I don't see Big Mtn going down the whole. However, if they don't come through on what they have promised, I am going to freak out.

Foley is my hero. i wish he ran for president and then the whole country could be run by corporations.......oh wait

Big mt is what represents the mountain itself and the awsome local comunity. whitefish mt resort represents foaly, all the condo building, them carring about turrist and not the locals, them making parking so you have to pay for it, them making it so you have to have a pass to ride chare 6, all the bad dicision making about chare lift set up and so much more..... Big mt ROCKS! whitefish mt resort BLOWS

thats the jist

The park is the best I have ever seen it, largest number of features, best setups, least sketchyness, etc. The pipe has also been cut a lot more than in the past.

On that end of things, they seem to have kept their word. Which is really cool, and makes things more fun for me.

A couple specific questions for those who were around all season:

How were the comps? Prizes? Setups?

Did the new setups in places like the day lodge hinder or help people?

Was there an overall positive or negative change in the atmosphere or service, irrespective of the name?

it seems to me that it can be summed up like this (not sure who i had this conversation with but if it was someone out there please take credit): if big mountain wants to be a "world class resort," then the chairs, parking and overall service need to be pretty much flawless. on the other hand, if they want to be a super fun mountain for the locals, then a chair breaking down once in awhile is not a huge deal. they can't be a world class resort if they're not willing to spend the money to get to that level. they seem to be stuck somewhere in the middle, which is probably the worst scenario.

one of my boarder friends was up at Big Mountain this last weekend and LMP and myself asked him if he brought his pink duct tape and he was like "Pink duct tape?!?! Dude i saw some kids with that on thier snowpants and stuff, i just thought it was to make it look like they were wearing some tight pants or some shit." hahahahah i laughed and then told him why the kid had pink duct tape haha. i will be sure to rock some pink duct tape the next time i roll up there..

ha ha actually that kid had pink duct tape on his pants to make them more wind resistant because he was doing the boarder cross. (if i'm thinking of the same kid) we dont' really rock it on our clothes we just sport it on the cars and stuff. but yeah i guess you were right about the tight pants...

No, we covered our goggle lenses in it, and when we hit things like trees, we think: "Shit, I ran into another reverse-stock split."

I feel like I'm going to be tired after I'm done hiking it after it closes. And I also feel like some how I'm going to be able to ski up there on employee day.
