Pink Duct Tape

Hey everyone, grab a roll of pink duct tape, and start making anti Whitefish MTN Resort Stickers... write BIG MTN FOREVER..., FUCK FOLEY... whatever...

we could possibly talk to a local printing store into making us some stickers for a cheap price

it's a huge sign right at the base of big mtn. so lame.

so i'm thinking stickers might be an option. i've had a lot of people inquire about the duct tape and i bet we could sell stickers for a dollar. say it takes 25 cents to make the stickers....that means we can make 3 more stickers for every sticker we sell. something like this? (5 minutes of messing around, just a rough)

yeah i got a picture of that some kids tagged the whole sign. i'll get them loaded tomorrow. did you see my subaru? i've been tagging peoples cars.

some of my friends work up at iron horse and apparently foley is kinda a big deal and people take the duct tape off of their cars.

hey so no one on here should say what they do or dont do, or just realize that it could be held against them... cuz things are getting a little serious. i had to go down to the police station today and talk to a cop cuz someone put my name out there for them and said i did the sign. which i did not do. but props to whoever did. but anyways talked to the cops for quite awhile and they asked me if i thought things would continue and i said it would only get worse... oh by the way apparently the management is pissed about the sign. someone painted it the other night and then they pressure washed it off the next day, then the next night, someone chopped it down. and as far as making stickers, they look sick and i would definately buy one, but try to keep the pink duct tape going, b/c if you grab a roll you can just stick it anywhere write anything, and you cant really get in too much trouble for tape instead of painting.

wow you people have got it all wrong. THE MOUNTAIN WAS IN SERIOUS DEBT BEFORE FOLEY AND THAT OTHER GUY BECAME THE HEAD CEOs. HAVENT YOU NOTICED HOW THEY ARE ACTUALLY DOING IMPROVEMENTS NOW AND THEY HADNT DONE SHIT FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS? THEY WOULD HAVE DONE IMPROVEMENTS BEFORE IF THEY HAD MONEY, BUT THEY DIDNT. NOW THEY ACTUALLY HAVE SOMEONE WITH THE CAPITAL TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.

Honestly, quit with the high school bullshit. The US of A is currently falling apart and you guys are wasting your time putting up duct tape. God forbid you ever have your own business someday and are making money. If you would wake up and realize, they do not want to ruin the mountain. Everything being done at the mountain will become alot more efficient, just watch.

I honestly think you guys are trying to ruin something that is going to be really good. So what he wants to sell some real estate, if you had any real knowledge, real estate is good money these days. Real estate is the only reason Big Mtn was ever able to stay open in the first place. So now you guys are blowing up because these two rich guys are dumping alot of money into making the mountain better, but of course they want to get something out of it.

Season pass prices are not going up, faster chairs are being installed, they are planning on having a terrain park, their will be faster chairlifts, the big ass mountain with a lot of powder stashes will not suddenly be taken over by tourists. Tourists suck at skiing and dont even try to find anything. Yes, they are opening two weeks later than normal, its not the end of the world. If you want to ski those weeks, drive somewhere else. Not that hard

is taking my mom's stock and giving her a shitty price for it helping us out? is opening two weeks late helping us out? is removing terrain for real estate helping us out? the foley thing isn't just about the mountain, though that is a big part. i've grown up in whitefish my entire life and i can't walk downtown without seeing something that is owned by foley. sure it would be all dandy if he kept the business local, but of course he didnt. he brought in marketing and advertising help from outside of montana. is that helping us out?

oh yeah i forgot, they are letting us pay for our passes in october rather than may. man that is definitely helping us out. thanks goodness they're looking out for us locals.

if you don't want to help us out, don't post in this thread. nobody cares if you don't agree with us. don't come preaching in here...it's not like we said "hey you! you HAVE to agree with us and put up duct tape!" if you want whitefish to turn into just another shitty ass touristy location that's fine with me but don't tell us to stop putting up a little bit of duct tape (and i hardly think putting up duct tape will contribute to the "falling apart of the US of A, that was a shitty argument)

oh and typing in capital letters doesn't help either.

Foley is the largest shareholder, not the CEO.

This is not about hating on people who are making money. This is about reminding people who are not SKIERS that there is a large group of people who want Big Mtn to come back to its roots, and focus on the locals.

Yes, it is certainly true that Big Mtn has poured money into projects that benift locals, such as the park comps and additions as well as chairlift replacement.

However, the employees are still paid what amounts to shit. Deadlines are not followed, and decisions that make sense are not made. Locals are going to lose good parking to retail space, and it is basically impossible for people who are not upper middle or upper class to rent a house on Big Mtn.

This is about the locals and the people who are being forgotten in a quest to make money. Skiing comes first.

1. So dowalibeast, what did your mom own, like one stock? What did you expect to get out of that? 1 billion dollars? It was stupid to have the stocks spread out so much. Because no one could ever agree on anything. When you have like 200 opinions to sift through, nothing is going to get done.

2. Skiers are not rich enough to own a ski resort.

3. Resort employees all around the world are paid shit. The head CEO's are not making the daily decisions to groom the mountain or fix the park, the people they hire do, bitch at them instead.

4. If you are not upper or middle class, you probably cant rent or buy a house on any resort in the entire world.

5. You want to actually make a difference, start saving money and get a really good job. Money talks. Duct tape doesnt do shit.

I just thought that was really funny and uncalled for to bring up during this topic. Im pretty sure almost half of the montana kids in here dont give a damn about this country, talk to Davie Boy about it, he wont even say the pledge of allegaince, cept for on the last day of school. Point being that is why i love Davie Boy

no it wasn't just one stock. my grampa was involved with the mountain since it began...my mom also has a condo in alpinglow which they are constantly trying to take away from her. and why was it stupid to have stocks spread out so much? isn't that the point of stock?

1. The fact that the stock is controlled by one man is the problem here, as the community that has to deal with his decisions has little to no say in what happens to the place that generates a great deal of their income.

2.Incorrect. Silverton Mountain in Colorado is owned by a private skier, and other mountains such as Bridger or Winter Park are owned by the cities of Bozeman and Denver, respectively. The skiiers do own the resorts.

3. Again, Foley is not the CEO. However, it would be nice to see him lead the organization in the direction of paying their employees more, as they deserve it, and also would likely not have to recruit from other countries to find people who will work for nothing.

4.Probably true. Conrad pulled it off somehow.

5. While money is an excellent way to get many things accomplished, the fact remains that protest and people speaking up against what they see as wrong is an integral part of our country. I can list countless examples of people who have banded together to accomplish a goal, and have for the most part succeeded. Resistance to the destruction of local say in how Big Mtn is run will gain attention, and possibly lead to changes. This is an example of the US of A working as it is supposed to, not falling apart.

To clarify:

I don't say the pledge because I believe people should mean what they say. The pledge allies the speaker with the United States, and frankly I have some serious issues with the actions that our country has undertaken in the past and currently. I refuse to pledge allegiance to a symbol that represents a country that I cannot morally support, and therefore I don't say the pledge.

Truth be told, I don't think anyone thinks about these sorts of things.

ok so i think ppl r missing the point of this thread. grab some pink duct tape or grab something else, not saying what cuz i already had to talk to the cops so yeah. but voice your opinion on WHITEFISH MTN RESORT and the fact that a majority shareholder can make changes. FUCK FOLEY!

Oh hey conceptkid i dont know u, looked at ur pix u seem legit but FUCK YOU!!! no offense.... hhaah but really no one gives a FUCk what u think actually nvm ur free to express ur opinion but why waste the time in this thread. this thread is about ppl who hate foley. but if u think u have good reason to post here, feel free, and i am very sorry if i offended you, i just really do not like how Big Mtn is being managed.

George Bush doesnt care about black people.

Bill Foley cares about money.

I think they are two in the same, either way im going to buy some pink duct tape and start the revolution. Oh and david im not giving you shit i just wanted to steer this thread in a more politcal weigh. Dont forget Hillary in 08!!!!

point one: who are you to say that?

big mountain was started by the community. the guys who tried to start it ran out of capital and turned to the community. they, in turn, bought shares to give it enough funding to keep going. these shares have been handed down generation to generation. they aren't looking to money; its a thing of community and taking pride and ownership for it. I don't own any shares, I'm not even from montana, but I would be HONORED to have purchased a share in the first place.

I do agree that all those shares have the potential to have too many opinions but come on, do NOT be so disrespectful and callous over something like this. his family lost something much more important than money.

point five: what the hell does this have anything to do with anything? I don't dispute it, i just think its totally out of place. keep "class" out of this, especially if its a personal attack.

you have some excellent points but christ, take it easy.

Sign vandalism uncalled for

I know that the recent name change on the mountain has touched quite a few nerves here in Whitefish, but it does not call for the vandalism of Winter Sports Inc. property.

Whoever vandalized the new sign at the mountain turn off gives all the locals a bad name. By taking such actions, the mountain is only more inclined to shrug off the local crowd because the feeling is we don't appreciate the mountain.

It's unique we have a world class resort in our town and should be thankful; otherwise, it will not be there in the future.

Robert Foley

Whitefish

"By taking such actions, the mountain is only more inclined to shrug off the local crowd..."

so he's saying that b4 any vandalism the the mtn was "inclined to shrug off the local crowd"

now they're more inclined?

Honestly, he is basically right. I want to ski this

season at WMR all winter. If you do not want to ski at WMR, please move

away and go to another resort. Nothing is going to be different other

than there will be FASTER CHAIRLIFTSs!!!!!!. This means local

people get to the powder faster and more efficiently. PLUS,

CHAIR 2 will be wayyyyyyyy sicker because it will be like a 4 person chair,

WHICH MEANS, NIGHT SKIING WILL BE ILLER NOW. Probably better employees,

Probably a better park, the road driving up the mountain is getting fixed so

its not as long and dangerous (which means getting up the mountain faster, do

you think they did this to benefit tourists most? NO) There is a SHIT TON

OF REAL ESTATE on the mountain that is still not developed and WONT be for a

long time. Bill foley said in the freaking independent that he has lived

at mountains like Aspen

and ended up hating it because he didnt like all the crowding and bull

shit. But you also need to understand that he IS investing in this and

wants to at least break even hopefully. He basically said that he IS

LOSING MONEY by doing all of this, do you think he really cares about tourists

that much???? Tourists are good money, they spend alot. I could

care less if tourists want to ski. They never get in my way and basically

I have yet to meet a tourist I dont like. They are always nice.

They are usually not good enough skiers to even get into the gnar shit on

themountain so they are never stealing my lines or anything.

Basically, STOP THE BULLSHIT GRAFFITI and THEFT. Its not going to get you

anywhere. The community of whitefish does not have enough money to run

Big mountain on their own. PLUS Bill Foley is the CEO of some big

insurance company which is also a huge hookup and means we can probably have

better competitions on the mountain.

Im sure all of these people doing all this bullshit graffiti WILL be

skiing at big mountain this winter and being fucking gay on the mountain trying

to ruin shit. The huge irony being that they are so against the

mountain, but yet, they will still ski and ride the chairlift up cause

obviously hiking up mountains all the time is really taxing on the body.

I like all Montana people, but honestly, I dont like to see people try to ruin

something before they even know if its going to be better than it was before or

not. So that means, reserve your want to go up and light on fire every damn thing up there, and actually take a step back and buy a pass and ski at the freaking mountain this year. Ride all the insane powder (its not going anywhere), meet some new tourists, yes the parking might be different, but you can always make parking space, its not hard. The chair 6 lodge is insane and will be so cool to see it this next season.

If at the end of this season you are just completly fed up with it and everything you used to know is just so much worse, then well, maybe you have a case. But in my opinion, I just see this as the people of whitefish jealous of Foley because he has more money than them and can actually get shit done.

Nothing is going to be different? I feel like I'm repeating myself here...how is starting December 9th not diffferent? Well I guess you're right actually, some things won't change (Employees getting paid nothing) And yeah, night skiing will be "wayyyyyy sicker" as you said, except for the fact that Foley is fucking getting rid of it! Night skiing doesn't attract tourists (or their money), so obviously there's no point in continuing it. Us locals just use our passes so he doesn't make any money.

Do you believe everything you read? Obviously Foley will say whatever he thinks people will take well. And yes, of course he cares about tourists.

I would be fine with Foley putting money in the mountain if he kept everything the same. But he is not doing that. Even off the mountain he's bringing in outside resources for advertising and what not.

I agree, the graffiti was a little much, but obviously it is getting somewhere. Do you know how many people have asked me about the pink duct tape on the back of my car? And now it's in the paper, obviously people are hearing about it.

I don't see why you care so much about this. You don't agree, cool. But let us do what we want and quit trying to tell us what not to do. You're making this negative. I want my hometown to stay just that, a town. Not some hoity toity fancy schmancy resort town where the locals are all driven out.

Oh and quit typing in fucking capital letters. It doesn't help.

Selling Real Estate will drive the real locals out of whitefish. Every time a multimillion dollar house is built on property at big moutain, the property tax goes up for everyone in the community. The tax will continue to go up until it drives the original locals out of Whitefish and the town turns into a resort town for the rich and famous.

I still don't see why anyone thinks that Big Mtn is a "world class resort." I love skiing there, and it has lots of fun terrain, but it doesn't even compare to places such as Whistler, Chamonix or Verbier. Maybe if the locals had a bit more say in what goes on (ie having a larger distribution of stock), we would know if the community (which Big Mtn is "trying to get closer to" through the name change) wants to even try to become a "world class resort."
