Pilchuck or Stevens...

I am going nuts waiting for the season to start. I am coming home today from college and desperately need to ski. I am hoping Baker will be open but its really looking doubtful. So, I will end up hiking Stevens or I even thought about giving Pilchuck a look. I know neither place has a bunch of snow, but I need something. The reason I thought of Pilchuck is because I love the views, it would be a good chance to do some hiking with my gear to get into hiking shape for the season. Think there would be much of anything right now? There would be like no people at all I am assuming, which is nice.

Any of you ever hiked Pilchuck to ski? I did it once two years ago during like May, there was a shitload of snow, had to park 2 miles down from trailhead and hike in. It was like 70 degrees, was a bitch with all my gear. But I really need to get out and do something over Thanksgiving break. I dont really wanna drive all the way to Baker to hike.

I think Stevens has enough snow to hike, and Baker definately does, but not that many other places have enough snow to be worth it. Maybe check the reports around the area, otherwise I'd say best bet would be Stevens or Baker.

Well I just read that Baker wont be open so thats out. But yeah, I am tempted to just hike Stevens. I mean I brought all my gear home with me for the weekend. I might just call up some buds and see if anyone wants to hike Stevens for the hell of it.

do you have AT gear?

Pilchuck would be pretty low coverage. you'd have to hike quite a bit. there's some turns though.
