dont do it. ive been watching this beacon for a while and was pretty excited about it, but now that it's out, i wont be getting one. basically, it will keep you safe, as will all beacons (unless you really try to save money and buy some super old one that isn't on the right frequency... but if you do that, you probably arent contributing much to society anyways). the difference is in its searching ability and that is where it really lacks. if you care about your friends, get a different beacon (by the way, the BCA tracker isnt 3 antennae, it's 2; the tracker 2, which isnt out quite yet, will have 3). the tracker is a really good, not too expensive and light beacon though. personally, I think Ive got it narrowed down to the Pulse or S1 but havent been able to decide for a really long time. just make sure you can use whatever you get. and read the snow/listen to reports; you can die in the avalanche itself, even if you get dug out within a minute, if your head is facing the other direction, you're pretty screwed.
