Picking a TV need advice

Trying to decide between the 60" 240 hz 3d sharp aquos quattron or the 70" 120 hz no 3d no quattron.

I play a lot of games, nhl 12, cod, battlefield mainly will be attaching it to a vsx-53 av reciever, infinity speakers with an htpc, Xbox, And hi def cable box... Debating buying a ps3 as a 3d blu rayplayer

I Also watch a lot of hockey

Is 3d worth it? Is 240 hz worth it? Or should I go for the 70?

Any advice would be very much appreciated
 
high refresh rates kind of suck for movies/tv, it gives everything that "soap opera effect", where shit looks ultra-realistic to the point of it looking like it was shot with a handy-cam or some shit. look it up.
 
So i'm gathering you both feel the 70"? I have been told it makes a big diff for games and sports (the 240) but I am not sure if this is true. Does anyone find 3d worthwhile at all? Leaning towards the 70 at this point
 
also, personally, i hate 3D.. its stupid. who wants to have to wear glasses while watching tv or playing video games.
 
Quality in order

1. Samsung

2. LG

3. Sharp, Sony

Try to get yourself one of the first 2 honestly, they're quality is exponentially better. Especially Samsung.
 
This. We got a 46". I can't remember the name either. And it's LED backlit. No such thing as an LED tv. 3D is television will take a while to take off, plus you'll never get full 1080p television shows, so don't let that be a choice factor (if anyone ever thinks about it)

the trim around the screen is so minimal its like its not even there.

to me, there's nothing that LCD tops over LED.

so i think i will go for the 70" rather have the size... any thoughts on quattron or is that as gimmicky as it sounds.

and it seems to be a general agreement that 240 hz is total bullshit and not going to make a difference for when i watch hockey sports games etc.
 
you might as well see what costco offers and see if the price difference is the amount of a membership. after the membership price you might not make any savings, but in the long term you will with groceries.
 
All my friends told me to get Samsung, there big into games too. But I wouldt buy 3D, in 3 Mo's it will be opposite!! And a year from now they won't even need glasses, just IMO. But I'm really happy with mine, I bought 2 32in samsungs for my parents, living room and one for there bedroom. Hope this helps any
