Pick one movie to show your non-skiing/snowboarding friends

If you had to pick one movie with the intention of amazing your snowboarding or non-skiing friends with the progression of skiing, what would it be?

For me, probably refresh, its got awesome cinematography and I like how it gives a little history lesson too. It's got the right mix of big mountain and park/urban, and it has more straight up skiing than dicking around. I also really dig the mount baker segment in believe.
 
Refresh would mean a hell of a lot more to skiers who understand the significance of warren miller to ski movies. I think that in most cases I would go with War or Anomaly, because from personal experience, going to watch those 2 movies in the spanish classroom during lunch way back when really turned me on to ski movies. I have been a skier my whole life, but that really made me want to get involved with the whole free-skiing movement.

For those kids who have their stereotypes that skiing is "lame" or whatever those trend-boarders decide to call us, I think 2 great movies that would make whatever stereotypes they have for skiers impossible to uphold would be the Outdoor education & graduation movies that show a bunch of sports together.
 
Refresh maybe because it shows the progression over time instead of just urban and park

Maybe Seven Sunny Days cause its focused on skiers who are good at what they do not just hucking
 
dont do this, everyone will get bored and not many people will realize how good he was in that movie. I would suggest refresh or EDIAS just for the fact of how impressive they both really are instead of trying to get them to pay attention to how "ahead of their time" a skier was.
 
how we livin, its short and great and theres even some banger snowboard shots to keep em interested
 
MN NICE! It explains why I looooove Minnesota skiing and it shows the awesome atmosphere that makes midwest riding so awesome. This would work for my friends, not necessarily for yours.

As for the normal average person, probly Refresh....It's just sick, and it does give some background of skiing.
 
My first instinct was Reasons or Yearbook (Yearbook is what I used to use in this situation back in the day), but War also popped in mind. I think anything that has a real solid mix of stuff, cuz any non-skier or non-ski movie fan will get sick really fast of the movie if its just urban, or just bc kickers, etc.
 
tons of my friends in my dorm has watched EDIAS and Refresh with me and both were really enjoyed by everybody.
I brought a friend with me to IF3 aswell, who has never skied or boarded, but is a pretty serious BMX'er and was stoked on all the movies we saw, not only because he has respect for any action sport, but because the level of skiing was insane
 
The day before thanksgiving break i convinced my history teacher to let us watch EDIAS, like the whole class had no idea about skiing and most people thought it was sick.I bet you could show like transitions to someone with little ski knowledge because it gives a pretty detailed recap of how freeskiing has exploded in the past 10 years
 
Refresh, awesome showing of what skiing has evolved into with commentary from ski movies most well known personality.
 
my gaper friends loved in deep the most out of the movies i showed them...not sure why but it makes non-skiers go nuts

Outdoor Education/Outdoor Graduation or possibly Hot Lunch because everyone can appreciate people having fun, whether you ski/snowboard or not. Also, Outdoor Education has lots of GT Snowracer footage. Everyone loves GT Snowracer footage.
 
I showed my non-skiing friend Everyday is a Saturday and he was blown away way more then the other 5 movies i showed him.
 
Seven Sunny Days would be my bet. It showed a lot about skiing:

The risks (CR Johnson`s inspirationnal segment);

The Thrills (Shane's base jumping + Wingsuit, which was GNARLY);

The fun (Shane's 007 scene LOL);

The girls;

And all the different possibilities (The part where they ride pillows on hotel roof tops in India).

Just a good Movie for the Non-skiers. Or else it would be Refresh because it shows a great progression of skiing.
 
why is everyone saying Refresh? you want people to think that skiing is all dancing on rails and double corks on park jumps?

As far as skiing goes, Seven Sunny Days might be a great choice - TJ's bow and arrow grab stands out as a shot that everyone should see...

As for non snow people, That's It, That's All will blow their mind.
 
i would say massive, if you play something else besides their soundtrack.

Re:session is also i good one. ive used that a couple of times this year already
 
I didn't get to read the whole thread beforehand, but this is a tough call. I find that anytime I show ski edits or movies to people who aren't involved or interested in the sport, they are more impressed with hand drag 3's and 5's then any other trick ... so I don't know what movie to choose.

With that said I brought some non-skiier friends to see Massive at IF3 a while go and they really enjoyed it. Didn't really get them interested in taking up skiing but anytime I mention skiing they enthusiatically yell TANNER HALL!
 
Not to be a trend whore, but honestly Refresh. They seem to have the team that is blowing up the most right now. Every section encompasses every aspect of skiing and how crazy it's really gotten, but most importantly it has shots of crazy ass park setups. BIg mountain and urban rails are pretty dope to us skiers, but for an outsider, it's easy to get lost in that shit. Crazy big park setups are nuts too see for everyone. It's easy to understand and get the difficulty to a non-skier across. Big mountain and urban can be repetitive to some people.
 
I might get some shit for this but in all honesty I also think that there are a few MSP films that would be better for the non-ski movie friends. Something like Push/Pull or Seven Sunny Days is really solid because of the variety you get and the more mainstream soundtracks. You have to face the facts that huge budget= people thinking they're amazing most of the time (just look at the blockbuster movie industry).

But I still generally stick with PBP for this situation personally, but theoretically MSP might be your best bet.
