Pick A Speaker

I'm looking at getting a speaker for Christmas. It needs to be iPhone friendly and able to play songs via Bluetooth. I'm going halfs with my parents so looking at spending max $500. Please give me some suggestions for the best possible speaker I can get. Much love. +k for good answers.

The Jawbone Jambox is pretty rad, my friend has one and its small, simple, and super portable. However its not extremely loud but still really convenient

The Bose system is nice, but $$$$ and I think Bose tends to sound flat.
