I just messed around with a lot until I could make stuff that didn't look like shit. If you have a little patience, just teach yourself.

What exactly are you trying to do with Photoshop? Combine images, adjust colours, restoration? If you ask a more specific question then maybe we could help you more. I have Photoshop 7 and would be glad to walk you through something if you know what it is that you want to do.

take one of the pictures you took and open it so that it's the background. Then open up the next picture in the sequence and use the lasso tool to highlight the skier. If you make a rough outline first then you can hold down the shift key to take away part of the highlighted area or hold down the alt key to add to the highlighted area. Then all you have to do is copy and paste it into the other picture and repeat for however many steps there are in your sequence. if you have any problems message me about what's not working for you.

ohhh thats how, LASSO TOOL = WIN!!!.... you need to experiment more before you give advice. I didn't read anything about color correction or what if, gasp, you make a mistake.

Photoshop isn't $600 for a lasso tool...

You could try the paintbrush tool making sure that the opacity is low. Or you chould try using the magic wand tool and using the paint bucket. Or you could use the lasso or the mask tool and use the paint bucket or paint brush to add the colour. There's a bunch of different things you could try really. Depends on what you want to colour in and how strong you want thhe colour you're adding to be.

Good luck w/ photoshop. I've found that you can you think you know everything about it, then every time you use it and mess around a bit, you learn something new. What's the main difference between ps6 and ps7?

I haven't really noticed too much of a difference. I'm sure that if you like to do super challenging things with it Photoshop 7 offers a little more options and fun tricks but for basic image adjustments Photoshop 6 is all you need.

And no one here ever claimed to be an expert, i only offer the way I would do it. I have used Photoshop a lot but I know I have lots to learn...If you know of a better way then post it, don't just laugh at others. Maybe you could teach us something, but no one's going to want to listen to you if all you do is laugh at everyone.

I got fed up with photoshop so I use fireworks now. It's more simple to use and usually gets the job done.

photoshop 7 has a better text editor (full vector now) and a couple new organizational features. nothing too huge. not the leap that 6 was from 5. but worth it.

i didn't come here with pants, and i'm not leaving with pants

I have both, but hadn't really noticed a difference except ps7 doesn't keep freezing on me.

Alright love slave, here is the short version of how I make sequences.

Scan in all the images or capture them from DV (although dv quality is sketchy and you need to run the interlace filter on the frames to clean them up a little). I normally use my slide scanner and then color correct the images, save them then start to compile them in one image. Drop opacity and do a really quick line up. Go back with the free-transform tool and rotate the images and skew them to make sure they all line up flush where I’m gonna gradient them together. Put quick masks on and removed up to/past (depending on your layer order) the image you wana keep. Brush size depends on what res I’m working at but use your judgment. After you get them all looking close and clean then go back and color correct again. Might have to nudge a couple layers to make it all line up perfectly. Link the layers together and save it. When you go to present it I would crop it down and change the size for the medium you are showing it on.

There is a longer version of that but with just that you should be able to get a style of your own, I generally do a lot more with a couple filters and more image adjustments but that should get it looking nice if you spend the time on it. This is some picture I did for calc class over spring break for extra credit. Little over compressed because I was trying to get it small enough to upload here but there is that blasted 30k rule. It turned out alright. Good luck with your’s

thats the toot, now onto ski graphic designing the lasso never gets everything and i can draw not on the comp but on its a pain in the ass cuz u cant fill in thise shapes and lines its pissing me off, any tips?

i'd suggest that you buy a wacom tablet. thats the next thing on my list of things to buy. It basicly lets you hold a pen type stylist and draw onto a board and it puts that onto the computer. they are really sweet but would set you back about 200-300 and up depending on the size. Also for ski graphic design I would sugest doing it in Illustrator using vector paths, that way you can enlarge them up to size and it will still look totaly crisp. Vector is a little different but every logo you see is vector for the issue of size/clarity.

wacom makes nice tablets but other brands are ALOT cheaper and will still get the job done.
