Photoshop question

I'm just learning how to use adobe photoshop (7.0) and i need to know how to take an image and combine it into another image and place it into a certain spot

just open up two pictures and drag one onto the other. Or you can just grab a layer and bring it over the other pic and let go or use a selector tool and select a certain area and just grab it and drag it onto the other picture.

If you want just a certain area, you can use the selection too, or the magic wand to select a specific area, then just copy and paste. With the magic wand, you can add and subtract from the selection by clicking on the different boxes in the top left corner.

you could have also used the magnetic lasso or the other lasso tools to get a good outline of the object

or you could drag the first photo onto the second, then erase the parts of the first photo that you don't want.

Using masks is better because you can reverse what you have taken out.
