Photoshop 7.0 help

ok... I have an irregular shaped object... I want to save the image as a JPEG. I've cropped it rectangularly as close as I can... when I save it out I always get an annoying white background outside the image... how do I save this irregular shaped image as a JPEG with just the image and no white...

thanks.

when you are in photoshop and you have you image open...goto SAVE FOR WEB and when you are in that select what type of file you want and then on the left hand side there will be a color palete where you can select what colors you want to be transparent. select the white color swatch and then click the little x underneath the palete...this will make that white go away when you export the photo.

well you see, the problem is that with .jpg's you aren't allowed to use transperencies. (unless I'm mistaken)

If you want a transparent background (it won't show the white, instead it'll blend in with the page's background) you will need to save the image as a .gif. Gif's are also a much better idea if you are saving shapes and you aren't using alot of colors.

Although, one thing you can do for a .jpg to blend with your page's background is to open up that file and create two layers on it.

On the top layer have your shape. On the bottom layer use part of the page's background.

I hope that helps, if you don't understand or need any other help just drop me a line.

I think what is said above is right
