Every day I see more and more people asking about photography, cameras, and camera equipment. It's pretty awesome to see. I know that photographers on here range from beginners shooting for fun to people shooting and selling their work. I'm just curious as to what equipment you guys are shooting, and if you'd like, a little background about your photography-self.
I shot film in high school for 3 semesters (1 every year from sophomore to senior year) and got into digital my first year of college (I am a sophomore right now). Last summer i worked at a newspaper as a photographer and am doing the same with my school newspaper right now. I am thinking about doing it for a living for a few years after school, but I am unsure about that.
My equipment is:D200Nikon 50mm f1.8Tokina 11-16 F2.8Nikon 18-200 f3.5/5.6Sigma 70-200 f2.8 (buying tomorrow or tuesday)SB-600
So, what are you guys using? I know some people have some really nice gear on here.

There was a very long thread like this already. Therefore, I will not be posting my gear in this one.

i shot film for a few years at school and took 2 digital courses, was given my first dslr about 2 years ago, have upgraded a few times since, really got into taking pictures a few months ago, this summer i interned at magnum photos, and most of what i know comes from fredmiranda, the photo/video forum on tgr, and just reading around online. i am a self-taught dslr owner
i shoot with:

I made a new one for 2 reasons.
1. I couldn't find an old one in a search.2. Even if I did, people get new equipment all the time. People's level of experience also constantly changes. I know if i posted in the old one 1/2 a year ago (I don't know when it was made) my answer would have changed by now.

I recently got into photography probably about within the past 4 months. I sold my HV20 and picked up a dslr and started messing around with it and have had a lot of fun.

Camera: Nikon D5000. Wanted a cam that shot good pictures and a litle video. Happy with the camera but probably going to upgrade within time.

Lenses: 18-55mm kit lens i think its a 3.5-5.6

55-200mm 4-5.6 I think

55mm 1.8 lens (Best lens I have used yet, will definately be buying more prime lenses)

Flash: Just purchased a Vivitar 285HV for a good price so going to be working with that soon.

Canon 40D - 28-135 3.5/5.6 lens

And correction to my original post- I have decided to wait on the Sigma 70-200 and save up for a Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR (partial xmas gift i hope haha)

this thread would be 20x better with pictures.. buuttt that requires a little more effort.

When I'm at home I have the use of a D200, I usually take it shooting whenever I can, pretty useful for sports etc......

Really want to upgrade to a better camera, the AF really lets the D80 down along with the FPS......

Yea the D200 does sports pretty well. The AF system helps a lot. Its complicated, but once you figure it out its awesome. It has a lot of noise though which makes it not too great in low light. D700 is a beast though. Expensive, but a solid camera.
