I have recently started to get more into photogrpahy and my next Art project I am planning on doing photogrpahy. At the moment I am using my Canon Digital IXUS 70 and ths shots are ok but I was wondering if you could give me some advice on cameras etc. because I would love to get into this more.

Thanks Guys

im on a quest to sell this for chip haha

but this is top of the line entry level professional camera. you get 6.5 fps and a great color sensor. attach a cheap canon 50mm f./1.8 lens and its a great camera in general. if your willing to pay for it then buy this

I'd go with the Canon G10 or a used G9

There great cameras way more practical for the average person and will take just a good pictures as it's price rivaled rebel.

pentax also makes one in this genre of camera defiantly take some consideration into this style of camera

i know many pros that use them as "at home cameras"

If photography is something you are seriously going to get into, the 40D is definitely a good choice. I started shooting with an XTi and moved to the 40D as soon as I could afford it, so skipping that step can save you some money to put toward glass.

You could probably save a little money and go with a Canon XS, I just bought one and it's a pretty phenomenal camera. Granted it's a step or two below the 40D, but a few hundred dollars could make the difference. In the end, the way your photos come out is largely unrelated to how good your camera is (unless you need like 4 fps for sequences). It's up to you, but you can still get quality shots out of a slightly cheaper camera. Check around http://www.bhphotovideo.com, they usually have good deals on kits.

I believe he is referring it in comparison, so after using the 40d and go to say a 350d it will feel like a toy, and technology wise this is also true.
