whats the word. im looking at the nikon d50, d70s and canon eos rebel xt. so far its looking like the d70s is defineatly the way to go (going for the body, and my buddy has a few old lenses he doesnt use). anybody disagree or have other suggestions? thanks
 
I shoot canon, and personally I like the Rebel XT. If you haven't already invested in Nikon lenses or anything, I'd go canon. Just my opinion
 
i was in the same situation last week and i went with the d70. People like the rebels but they love thier d70s. So i went with the d70
 
too be pirfectly honest i liek canon, their moving up in the digital photography, but what i would sugest is to not only get a digital, but get a 35mm aswell if you can find one, it may cost alot more, but you can do alot more with film than what you can do with digital, and i havent really read up on photography stuff in a while, but last time i checked the sensor in the back of the DSLR's arent as big as the film area is... plus no matter how good of a digital camera, it will be pixelated, with film its nice and crisp cause its going straight to the film. but yah i use canon and i love it.
 
If it's between the D70s and the Rebel XT, probably go with the Canon. Most ski photographers I know shoot Canon and prefer it. But, getting in the door with the D50 is quite a bit cheaper than you can do with a Canon system. I have a D50 and love it. If money hadn't of been an issue, I would have gone with the Rebel XT. There are tons of great lenses for both systems, and plenty of room to upgrade to better bodies later, either way you can't go wrong.
 
yeah, i have an old 35mm i shoot with. the dslr is purely for convenience. im gonna be in the adirondaks all summer and wont have time to develop any of my own film, so i kinda feel like just being able to throw it on the comp when im on home and get the sequences going and such. im not going to be making prints of the stuff from my dslr,so no blowing up to do... but the pixelation still holds i guess. ill take another gander at the canon.
