Photo Website Format

Alright so some of you may know that i am building a site for my photos but need your positive critasism about the format and layout of pictures. I have it down to two and right now believe the bigger pictures with no thumbnails is a better option but it is good to know what the audience believes as well. The photos in right now are just placement photos so nothing good, and also i don't have it up on my real domain yet, just being hosted by another server so for some reason it doesn't work with firefox although it works with everything, though this wont be an issue when i finally get the real hosting. So:

format 1: http://echoluna.agilityhoster.com/gallery_hills.html

format 2: http://echoluna.agilityhoster.com/gallery_events.html

So just state which format you prefer and a reason, greatly appreciated guys.

 
CAN'T BE VIEWED IN FIREFOX-works with pretty much everything else though

...i don't know why its just a temp server that hosting it for free until we get a real hosting underway
 
Format one, the smaller side pictures in format 2 were kinda pixelated as well..i agree with the first psot thouhg, maybe keep teh first format for smaller galleries and then if tehy reach a certain size they automatically? switch to format 2
 
yah thats not a problem for the final site...will work 100% with everything, its just this free server that is hosting it now until we have it primed for real online action
 
def second one, way better format and easier to browse through the pictures, especially if you have a lot of photos
 
I prefer autoviewer to simpleviewer (which is what i used with my website). The only issue I have with it is that the captions are automatically put over top the image, which bugs the hell out of me. any chance you know how to overwrite the script so that the captions appear underneath?
 
yeah I know how to do that, Id just like to keep the captions, just not smack on top of the photo. I might just change my website and use lightbox instead. and now i'll stop highjacking your thread pippjn. post up the finished site when you get everything sorted out.
 
eh, im gonna have to overhaul it in the first place if i were to switch it from autoviewer to simpleviewer (captions with the photos are a must) so I may as well put in a little more work and use something that I'll like the look of better.
By the way Pippin, are you studying photography? if so where? from your photos it seems like youd be taking photojournalism.
