I am currently storing all my photography and video in a google drive folder that I have synced up to my computer and others that I use but I recently just ran out of storage and I know that it is all extremely poorly organized. I need help!!!!

Jesus, do you not own a hard drive? Isn't it 2018? Pretty sure they hand those things out like condoms these days.

I do, it’s just I hate having thousands of photos on a single, dinky little hard drive. I am thinking more in the area of a bay or something. I don’t know much about it

Get yourself 2 hard drives if you're worried about reliability. Or get a drive that is RAID-5 capable. As for organization, do you use Lightroom at all? IMO that's the best way to catalogue, tag and organize photography.

Maybe just get a couple solid state hard drives? Cloud services are expensive and slow to upload/download

Use two desktop hard drives (aka the type you plug in, not a USB BUS powered drive). Use one to store and then keep a full clone on the second. Don't bother with solid state. This will be best mix of cost effectiveness and reliability. Don't get a RAID-5 array, or any Raid array at this point. They can be expensive, finicky and much more difficult to work with. You won't see the benefits. Keep files you're working on currently on your computer and buy a small portable drive as a mobile backup if you wish. Sort with Lightroom for photos or just spend the time to manually organize.
