I would say its a great photo(brightness, sharp) but a front shot here would work much better.

it was a parade with 100,000 people

you take what you can get, but honestly i like that its his back, you can tell who it is and IMO it makes it feel more iconic

The background looks very nice. It would look better with out the subject.
