I'm hitting Mansfield, SPAC 3-5, and Canandaigua.

Seeya there!

I bet the Phish set the 4th of July is going to be big. Sadly, I have to work when they're at SPAC.

I was planning on doing the whole summer tour but I won't be around. Delayed the trip for health and music reasons. Thinking of doing mansfield simply because I can't go to any other shows. Not sure though. I'll 100% be at spac though.

The fish from vt!

Live on Letterman was pretty nice today. Really liked 555 live (even though I saw Gordo perform it a few months ago). Nice Carini too

555 is definitely the best track off Fuego IMO

What the flying fuck I though they were supposed to play the Gorge this summer... Oh well, I'll just road trip down to CO from Bozeman once I get back there.

They just played the gorge last year. They'll probably play next year. Since they've been back they did 09,11, 13 at the gorge. I'm still bummed my rides fell through to make it out last year.

Bummer. I've never hit a Phish show but got a friend at MSU introduced me to Phish and hits a few shows every summer and he was gonna come up to Seattle from LA and hit the Gorge show with me. Next year I guess.

Side note, had my best acid trip EVER doing nothing but sitting in a room jamming Phish and smoking bong with a couple really good friends. It beat being in the sun, on a hike, in my bedroom, all the other places I've done LSD, I think mostly because of the Phish honestly. I think it would be fucking wicked to see a show on some good dose and just fuckin chill and vibe with all the other people tryin to do the same shit. Not that I'd need drugs for the show but LSD + Phish = Wonderful

If they come near you and you get the chance to see them make a day out of it. I'd recommend getting down to the venue around 3 or 4. Some places even earlier if they're letting people get parks early like if there's a park or campground.

I've had days where I had such an adventure during the day that I felt like I got what I came for before even going into the show. If it's a multi night run which it's likely to be out there hit all nights.

Have fun with friends, meet new strangers, wander, relax, rage, and have an awesome time.

There's absolutely nothing like feeling IT.

On a similar note, one of my best acid trips ever consisted of me just laying in bed listening to Phish for hours upon hours.

It's really amazing stuff. It's really cool to see people fall in love with the band. It's something you do on your own and at the shows. This year it happened to me. I now have thousands of tracks on my iPod and they're by far my favorite band. The music, the lore, the community, the MUSIC. Everything!

Lives in saratoga, doesn't care.

Moves to VT ends up loving dirty hippie music.

:)

muahahaha (;

I wouldn't say doesn't care. My first shows were in 2012 (I was a junior in HS) and they were in my top 5 or so until this year. This year I really just dived right into it and taught myself pretty much everything by reading stuff on phish.net and listening to everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. It's just beautiful music. That's it.

Word. I thought you hit some of the shows. The way I read your posts here I thought you were saying your first show was new years.

I was confused.

Only a couple days away.

I'll probably end up in mansfield. IF anyone wants to know where the heady spot is for spac hit me up or find me on shakedown.

music every night camping and all that.

I'll be at SPAC on N1. I'll be the kid in the American flag pants. If you go, get food at the Esperanto's tent and get a doughboy. They're beyond good.

I love how my friends get mad at me not being a huge fan of Phish, and then proceed to force it down my throat, thinking it will make me like it.

It's not that they're bad or anything, but some of you guys make them out to be cult leaders haha.

Have you been to any shows? I know a lot of people that didn't really dig them that just kind of went here and there and now they love it.

Idk, they have they're own scene. It's like a family reunion, a reason to travel, a new experience each time.

Some bands there's that song or two that ropes people in. That said some people don't like and will never like the fish. It's all good though.

In a sense they kind of are cult leaders.

I'll admit I've never seen them live, and I understand that the whole point of Phish in general is to go see them live, but it totally cracks me up when Phish Phans say things like this to almost every song played -

"OMG THEY ARE PLAYING *insert somewhat, or even perhaps not-so-seldomly played song here*??? HOLY CRAP THEY HAVEN'T PLAYED THIS LIVE SINCE I SAW THEM IN 2011!! OMG OMG OMG"

i loved going to phish shows... when i was 17. Years later you will figure out that mike gordon is a fucking pedophile.

That was awesome, I'd call night 1 success

I'm actually allowed people to come during a thuncerstorm. Were you inside or did you have lawn seats?

Fuck yeah Reba! That was my first one ever. Really nice SOAM too for set I, and who knew it wouldn't close the set! I love Page's Coil solo.

Set two came out super strong with a HUGE Fuego. It's only been played like 4 times and they already took it to type 2! So pumped to see what they bring out tonight!

WHAT A SHOW

Got my Fluffhead! Dreams do come true.

First set had Foam, Divided Sky and Bowie.

Second set had Carini, Piper, Fluff, Slave, YEM!

Idk how to describe it. Maybe if you went to a movie theater where they were going to play 2 or 3 random movies in a row. That movie you hate is when you go get popcorn and take a piss, then there's that epic movie you forgot about from years before that's the best shit ever and you're stoked to watch it. Probably a shitty attempt but it's hard to define.

Basically any show could be that awesome show. Any show could have that song you've always loved but never heard live. Every show is different, it's all a new experience even though it's experienced in a similar way.

Live music is a band speaking through instruments in it's purest most raw form. I'm not saying I hate studio albums just that it's a totally different thing. Several takes lot's of production to get that final product. Live music there is un edited. There's just something awesome about sharing that experience with a massive group of people.

theres no use explaining it to him or anyone else...they'll never get it.

That's not true. That was a very well put explanation.

However, I do have to say this much, I don't always just want to watch movies. Some weekends I want to go see a set of random Orchestras or Operas or Sporting Events, etc - IE: Phish isn't the only band I'd want to see, or the only genre I want to listen to.

Therefore, it's kinda confusing to see people follow Phish around the country on such a massive groupie scale. I get it if it's your thing, but it's SO much more the thing to do with Phish than any other band I can think of. (Maybe Jimmy Buffett, hence the Parrothead moniker, but I'll admit, Phish is many times better than Jimmy Buffett, so those folks are even more fucking weird)

I mean, on the flip side, you have groups like Iron Maiden - a band with a huge following, tons of great songs from over the years, and they're under-the-radar enough that you never hear them on the radio or anything - Much like Phish. different Genre entirely, but similar band in following and scene - yet it's incredibly far less rare for me to hear folks follow Maiden around while they are on tour.

Perhaps its because more of my friends are hippies from Vermont than metalheads from Britain, maybe Iron Maiden is the Metal-version of Phish and I am totally clueless, but this is my own best explaination as to where I and many others' questions about Phish Phollowing comes from.

[And on that note, thinking about all of this Iron Maiden makes me kinda want to follow around Iron Maiden while they're on tour, because that sounds fucking AWESOME - thus I'm realizing I might just be WAY more into Metal than jam rock and bluegrass haha]

What a lot of people don't get is that the band actually has 4 great musicians in it and a lot of the music is beautifully composed. Trey has written symphonies. If you're not into rock songs with several movements etc. I understand that but this music isn't just sloppy jam rock. Throw that on top of the live experience with all their hijinks and incredible jams, and you've got a band people are gonna want to follow.
