It was. and I was hoping for a loving cup encore it's my favorite phish cover. Overall awesome first show experience for me

just saw umphreys at this tiny venue in interlocken, michigan... they raged it, covered "I Want You" for the encore, twas rad.

Great! Decided to buy a ticket for 20 bucks to make the journey in easier.

Hadn't gotten a yem in a long time. Great way to wrap up the last forever.

I like audience tapes though. Some people hate them all. I feel like I'm at the show again more.

That said, some tapers suck.

I understand where you're coming from, because I used to be on archive.org 24/7 downloading AUD tapes. I can still appreciate them for the fact that tape trading is a tradition that's been around a lot longer than me.

I think I've just heard one too many inattentive audiences. There's also nothing like a clear bass line, and a crisp guitar solo.

Not saying I don't like SBD's. I usually snag both. I listen to a lot of taper stuff from archives and sugar megs. I have a little bit of everything.

loving cup blew my mind. second night was just a perfect flow of songs. they went to some pretty dark places sunday night however closing with yem was pretty nice!

I never thought I would say anything like this, but night 2 imo was a better performance than either DMB shows at SPAC. It actually blew my mind.

For me it is a very bold statement, coming from someone who can recite 99% of all Dave Matthews lyrics and shivers when he hears certain songs. It didn't beat some other Dave shows but I was legitimately blown away. Just the showmanship and the way the set flows is incredible.

I'm not a big fan but the members of DMB are incredibly talented. If you dny that than you suck at music.

My biggest problem with DMB is simply the crowd it draws. The phish crowd is so much better. A big party but people that can handle their shit, and are friendly to each other.

Not a bunch of bros starting shit, and 14 year old girls drinking their first natty lights/keystones and puking on each other

I like DMB quite a bit more, but also love phish. I 100% agree about the crowds though.

^Also you are completely wrong. When DMB jams, they fucking jam. I don't know where you got that notion.

To me, DMB is like the natty light of beers and Phish is a heady microbrew. Natty light is a great way to start and get yourself introduced and familiar with beer but then you start to crave something a little more complex and sophisticated. Natty light (DMB) is like the gateway into appreciating a good beer (other jambands i.e. phish and sci) for many people.

I just saw my first Dave show at SPAC earlier this summer after turning down the chance for a decade now. Simultaneously in the middle of the show, this girl to my right was getting finger banged and a dude to my left vomited everywhere. That's when I realized that it would also be my last Dave show.

So you don't like his music because the majority of the crowd (not to be mistaken with his fans) are like that? I fail to see the logic.

This'll be my last statement unless provoked since I don't want to ruin this thread.

To the guy up there, do you seriously think sci is better than dmb?! Personal preference but still...

The bands have their similarities and differences.

I prefer Dave Matthews because of how his music makes me feel and think. He is an amazing songwriter and the rest of the band is extremely talented too. They can jam the fuck out when they want, but just enough to fit their style and songs. Emphasis on the lyrics. The crowd at shows generally blows.

Phish is extremely unique, engaging, unpredictable, and talented. They jam like no other, and do it well without sacrificing any flow. The crowd is great. Best concert atmosphere I've ever seen. Let's be honest, the lyrics generally suck. However, they use this to a benefit. It's all part of the style.

Everyone has their own opinions and preferences and that is what makes this beautiful world go round and round.

One last thought..... I don't know anyone who listens to Phish for the lyrics.

Never once did I say anything about the quality of the music, I just said I never want to go back to a Dave show. If you want to know my opinion, I thought the music was ok as long as he wasn't singing.

No point in trying to argue SCI vs. DMB. No ones minds are going to be changed as a result.

A lot of phish lyrics credit goes to Tom Marshall.

"So toss away stuff you don't need in the end, but keep what's important and know who's your friend"

Theme from the bottom. don't even try to tell me that's not a good line. One of my favorite lines from any song ever.

went to my first phish show at spac on saturday. It was super fun, scored a nice 4 piece grinder on shakedown and some PBR.
