yeah i know its stale news, and i bet there's been a post on this already but i was just wondering who was looking to go to the big final concert in Vermont in august. I know there are a lot of phish heads on here that live in the northeast and would most likely go. so whos goin people?

and if you didnt know already yes phish is breaking up. Trey says they dont want to become nostalgic and possibly even a joke in the future, they want their music to have and impact still i suppose. its been a great ride and they just wanna leave off on a good note, and thats cool if you ask me.

im going to their two shows in saratoga on the 19th and 20th of june. this last tour is gonna be sick. a bunch of my friends are going to the final vermont show and im gonna try to also. i think tix for the vt show are like $150.

i have meet phish before their not that cool. also this is just my oppion on the whole them breaking up, they want to break up because they feel that other bands can be influenced by what they have done, that they want to end it because really they don't wanna become sell outs. the funny thing is that really all they are is justa mock of the grateful dead, they did everything they did based on the influence of the dead, how can they say they want to influence others when they aren't even orginal themselves? dead head -> phish head.. yea..

maybe this oppion is because i have always grwon up with the grateful dead and my older sister was a huge dead head ( even went to UVM when phish was first coming out) i have never liked phish because in my eyes they are not nearly as good as those they base their music on, so really its like their music is that of the deads but its not good..

this is just my oppion...

And it makes me see, every puff that I breathe, potent herbs and leaves could ease the world . . .

^^^I think he meant that Phish didn't want to influence other bands once they become 'a joke of themselves', they already influence a shitload of bands (just think of haw many phish tribute bands there are at your high school alone...)

if you think phish sucks then it is beyond me why you people would even open up a thread with PHISH right in the title. I dont disrespect your taste in music, dont disrespect mine.

phish may be similar to grateful dead as far as the style of the music goes, but they sound quite different. jerry is into the acoustic guitar and trey is way more into doing different things with the electric guitar. They made some great music, and they still play great music, anybody who has been to a concert in recent years can attest to that. I think its cool if they wanna split, its their decision not ours, let it be and enjoy their final concerts.

What the hell is with everyone putting Phish down for 'being like the Grateful Dead'?. First off, they sound nothing like the grateful dead. They have their own original sound, and people liked it, so they kept on touring. And now you're saying they are trying to be like the grateful dead? These guys get nothing but shit from people like you because of this but the truth is they never did anything to try to be like the Grateful Dead.

i didnt even read this whole thread cause it was starting to piss me off way up there by skiboardingbitchs comment. 'I have met phish and they arent that cool', I hope i never in my entire life ever meet you or read another post. Who cares if they are cool, they make unbelievable music. You seem like one of the people who bring a negative vibe to a show.

And with them not playing, it sucks but so what they are going out while they kick ass and have been touring edlessly for years so now that they are milllionaires why not enjoy it.

okay, so ppl are saying phish is just copying dead. well think about it, the music u listen to now is most likely based on another band or is a decendant of it. music evolves guys. like oooh yeah hard metal punk rock. guess what, its all the same screaming and yelling, just different scrreams and yells. instead of going AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH they now go OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

$150 is pretty steep, hopefully there will be some good loopage at the Ekwanok

Half of the kids who don't like Phish should go to a concert. They are so chill. It gets hard to chill when there's hip-hop blaring on stage and everyone around you is jumping up and down. Phish rules, I'm not saying hip-hop or rap or any of that is bad, I love it just the same. But Phish concerts rock.

I have a smile on my face for a good 3 weeks after a phish show. Nothin bad can happen as long as there is phish to look forward too so it will suck hwen the tour is over.

You really are a skiboardingbitch, huh? Phish has created a sound completely separate from the Dead. Trey nor any of the band members ever set out with the intention of imitating the Dead. And you're a fool to think so.

One of the prime reasons is that the band is tired, after years of heavy touring the schedule has mellowed out. Everyone's enjoyed the ride, but with most band members involved in their own side-projects its only fitting to go out with a bang. In addition, Trey is a dope fiend, and even though he's checking in to rehab, he doesn't want his actions to tear apart the band somewhere down along the line.

Essentially, this tour is to celebrate Phish's legacy and music in the most positive environment as possible before things go sour.

The final blowout up in Newport Airport is 4 days long, 2 days of music - tickets are $150.

I'm going to June 20th at SPAC and the Newport show.

they don't want to be like the dead. jerry toured so much longer than phish is going to, if they wanted to be like them they would keep touring until one of them dies. and that whole phishead=deadhead comment is the weakest shit i have ever heard.
